How about this fuel system?
- Walbro 255 LPH intank pump through the stock 3/8 feed.
- Walbro 255 LPH inline pump fed from a sumped tank, utilizing -6AN lines
- -6AN return line
- Each lines plumbs into its own fuel rail
Pros
1) Two of these pumps are much cheaper than an dual intank or a big external
2) A parallel opposed to an in series arrangement should flow pretty close to an Aeromotive Eliminator or an equivalent Weldon.
3) With each pump feeding its own rail, two -6AN lines are actually cheaper than one -10/-12AN feed with the associated y-blocks and fittings, not to mention much simpler to plumb.
4) With at least one intank pump, fuel starvation in auto-X/road course conditions associated with sumped tank/external pumps is not as much of a concern.
Sooooo, what are the potential cons with such an arrangement? If a pump were to fail, one half of the motor would be completely toasted, but at least the other half would live. On the other hand, if a single external pump failed, both banks of cylinders would fry, but perhaps not as badly? Who knows.
Any opinions are greatly appreciated.

Hmm I'm running 2 Walbro inline pumps with -10AN feed going to a y-block, which feeds into both pumps then y-blocked back to -10AN again, then up to the rails. Its an easy system and have seen it work on really fast stangs which are making more power then I will.
