Help with tensioner on P600b!

Hi. I had to make a bracket for my blower and the tensioner is in a different place. A little lower than stock. According to the instructions, I need to line the one mark on the pulley up with the middle line on the other half of the pulley.

The problem is, I tightened the adjuster nut to it's max and it the belt is tight. Extremely tight. After a few turns of the nut and after the belt gets taught, it can't quite make it to the second(middle) mark.

Another point, is the belt supposed to be super tight? I mean, I know it shouldn't slip but has got to be hell on the front main bearing. Is there anyway to measure it?

I really don't want to make another bracket so what should I do? How will I know if it is slipping? Noises?

**** the notches, just tighten it so there is less than 1" total deflection across the leading edge from the crank pulley to the blower pulley.

You will know if it's slipping if you see black dust around the blower pulley.

You don't want to overtighten.

Do it the above way and go for a rip and watch the boost gauge, it if levels out or goes down then you're probably slipping the belt. Tighten it up a tad and go from there.

Good luck,
Marc

Cool. It was definately too tight for a 1" deflection. I might could have gotten 1/2" if I put a lot of force on it.
