Help on readying car for supercharged 383

I just recently bought a 383 small block for my z28 and a friend gave me his vortech supercharger for free. I'm looking at put some nos into this thing too. Just need some info since I'm not a genius when it comes to cars. The car is basically stock. I plan on putting this all in but I need to know what else I need to get so that the car can run and not break down due to the power coming from the supercharged 383. Any help would be appeaciated.

That's a pretty broad question. There are a myriad of things you need to learn before attempting such a project. You probably just need to spend some time reading old threads here, magazine articles, and books. You will have issues with the fuel system, ignitions system, computer programming, cam choice, compression ratio, transmission, rear end, etc.

Some supercharged 383's only make 400 rwhp, but some make 700 rwhp. If you take a 700 rwhp 383, then add 100 hp Nitrous, you're talking about a 800 rwhp LT1, which would make yours one of the most powerful in the country. That's not going to happen, though, because the 800 rwhp LT1's are built by extremely knowledgable people who have been building cars for years, who also have large budgets.

Well considering I'm not building the engine and the engine and all of its components are already together ready to go in I would say thats not a problem. I bought the engine from a guy at the track I work with. He said alone the engine should push close to 500hp. I have the rear end, transmisison, and computer programming thing already. I'm looking at a nitrous setup that i can switch b/t 50-250 shot. The vortech is going to be put in by my boss at the track I work at. He's been building car for a long time. Now back to my question what else will I need. The egine came with cam throttle body all that crap. Anything that goes under the hood is takin care of. I'm more concerned witht he fuel injectors, frame stability, and stuff like that. I'm trying to get an idea of how much money I will be putting into this thing. Yea I know it's expensive but money isn't a big problem really. Just trying to get an idea of a spending break down to finish this car off.

Well, as far as fuel injector sizing, you can use this calculator.

You're also gonna need a beefcake fuel pump. Aeromotive makes some stuff that you won't be able run lean.

What kind of exhaust system do you have? Manifolds and a stock catback won't cut it with 800 horse... When you're done with those issues, head over to BMR and get yourself some subframe connectors, Xtreme duty torque arm, driveshaft safety loop, and control arms.

With that kind of power, don't be surprised if you need a stronger driveshaft and new rear axle assembly. Combonation Motorsports has some choices in those areas.

That should get you started...

So basically your saying it would be smarter just to stay with the engine right now without any of the other stuff. Ok I can understand that. But even just engine I'm still going to have to beef up some parts of the car. I think, thanks to these post i got an idea. Only ther question is if i decide to put the supercharger on my other z28 will i need to change much or could i get 400 hpwithout much change.
