Help with piston selection

I'm trying to order my rotating assembly, and I'm not sure what dished pistons to get. The brand isn't the problem, it's the amount of dish.
I want to be around 8.0 - 8.5 compression. I am assuming that my head bowls are stock and will adjust the head gasket accordingly after the motor is apart. I'm doing a 383 with up to 15psi on a D1SC. What do you guys think?

Assuming your using a stock head, i believe a -31cc is the most you can go, and even that will only take you to about 9.0:1 assuming its already had work on the chamber. If you want to go lower then that, then your probably looking at some aftermarket heads. If your not hip on that idea, then a worked head with that piston along with a FMIC and some meth injection and you should be fine, even at that boost level.
I run that combo using the JE pistons.

That's what I was leaning towards (working the head). Thanks.

you'll need 31cc dish to go that low with a stroker. aftermarket heads are usually about 4cc larger which helps lower CR. google compression ratio calculator

I found a couple of calculators on google and their results were different for the same entries which is when I turned to you guys... But the consensus seems to be the -31cc throughout all the older posts I've found, then some head work. I've pretty much settled on the fact that I need to wait to buy anything until I get my heads off the car and do some measuring. Better safe than sorry...

There's no reason to ask anyone, they're just going to ask for your information and enter it on the same calculator you should be using.

wow....again, different calculators have different results and varied by as much as .5 . If you don't want to help then don't respond. I've gotten some PM's that told me that factory heads heads on a 383 won't get that low, even with machining. That is the kind of help I was looking for.

I'm just saying the only way anybody can know is by doing the calculations. If you do it yourself you'll be less likely to make mistakes, which is exaclty what has happened, because yes you can get 8.5:1 on stock heads. Stock deck height is around .025 over plus around a .060 head gasket will get you there.

Some calcs might not ask you for head gasket bore and wont be (as) accurate.
