Help, blower belt off alignment 1/32in. OK Or NOt
Hi, I'm putting a custom d1 FMI kit on my car. My problem is I have a ATI balancer on so I had turn down the aluminum spacer that goes between the balancer and the blower crank pulley. I spent a hour the other night trying to make sure I had this right. After all said and done my crank pulley is in exactly 1/32 of a inch (.0312). Will the belt be OK????
Did you check this with the belt tensioned? The bracket will likely flex this much as well.
Are you comparing the pulley ribs or the face of the pulleys? The face dimensions can be different on the crank & blower pulleys.
1/32" should not matter, but also allow for some bracket flex which tends to pull the charger forward under boost.

Used a straight rule on the drive pulley and aligned the driven pulley (I think 1/32 is OK). I added washers to the head bracket mount (1997 ATI D1), and, machined a pilot on the crank since alignment is critical. Also, I modified the ATI tensioner bkt with a new stop so that the belt tension would not unload to maximum. There is more slack in a belt driving a 7.6 --> 3.4" 12rib pulley combination. I allowed about 0.060" of idler tension release. This has really helped me with the ATI tensioner since I see alot of unload deflection with the ATI design.
Hope this helps.
Hope this helps.
