Gap at 15psi?

What are you guys using for these high boost situations?

I'm at .035 and getting horrible blowout above 12psi. I'm going to try .028 tomarrow

Re: Gap at 15psi?

What type of ignition and coil are you running? Most peeps are fine with .035

Re: Gap at 15psi?

Alvin,
If you have TR55's in pull them out as they will be a little too hot for 15PS1. Try some Autolite 103's. I have had better results with the autolite than NGK (some NGK's give part throttle surge), but your results may vary.
Later,
Bryan
I guess I could have just emailed you

im running TR6's with a .038 gap at 17psi with no problems. Delteq ignition with no aftermarket box. when i switch to colder plugs in this weekend for the nitrous i was planning to go to ~.030 to be safe though

Re: Gap at 15psi?

I'm curious, what does it feel/sound like when the spark blows out? I am just wondering since I still have my phantom rev limiter problem on mine...

thanks!

Re: Gap at 15psi?

Thanks guys for all the input,

and thanks bryan!

It sounds like a bad distributor would or something, just missfiring and the dead cylendar type thudding sound. Kinda hard to describe.

This 15# pulley completely changes the effecientcy of this motor, it now raps up to 10psi pretty freely and with less than 1/2 throttle. Tomarrow i'm going to spend a few hours actually tuning my own car (bryan knows what i mean, when it comes to your own car it feels like work )

Re: Gap at 15psi?

I'm at .025/.028 with a set of AC Delco's suggested by Kurt from W2W. I ran TR8's for a while but they seemed to foul out kind of fast. I would not run TR6's for over 700rwhp.

Re: Gap at 15psi?

i agree with not using TR6's past 700rwhp (or 650rwhp IMO). i stuck with them since i was having part throttle tuning issues and fouling plugs for a while, but now that i fixed that i am going colder since the electrodes on mine are showing obvious signs of overheating (without nitrous use)
