Fuel for turbo..420lph in-line with 255lph?

Ok Im looking at different Ideas with this fuel system. Ive narrowed down my turbo kit...ptk kit with custom intercooler, t-76,and 60lbs injectors.meth injection. Now for the fuel.. I was told for the amount of power/boost a 255 might be or might not be enough. I plan on running 10psi street/14psi at the track(with 118octane) On LS1 speed they have a bosch 420LPH inline pump that says it supported 720rwhp without leaning..I dont plan on running close to that(600..650 max) Would a 255lph intake work if it were paired with that 420lph inline pump?-Mark

the 255 will be a restriction, I would just run the 420lph bosch pump and keep an eye on things...

Re: Fuel for turbo..420lph in-line with 255lph?

the bosch 420lph pump will be trying to push fuel through the 255, the 255 is not going to help move any more volume,

this works...not for long

Boosted V8--------------255lph------------190lph intank

this will work....but not so well

Boosted V8--------------255lph------------420lph Bosch (get out of the way Mr. 255)

this works well

Boosted V8--------------------------------420lph Bosh (aahh...better now that slow pump is out of the way)

best bet

Boosted V8--------------------------------Twin 255lph Walbro intanks

well...from what I have seen the Bosch 420 pump looks to be external, so you would have to sump the stock tank...and I see that as a total waist of time,if I was going to run a sumpped tank I would just buy the Speed inc system...it looks great and is a nice setup...but alas...its a grip,1800 bucks or so to your door...and a month later

I would run two intank walbro 255lph pumps off a y-block...about 1/2 the cost of the bosch 420 and all the fittings and what not to sump your tank

Sorry bro, I got too many things on my plate right now. The sticky at the top of the threads shows how to make one.

Re: Fuel for turbo..420lph in-line with 255lph?

They're a lot easier to build than you think... Stock lines would be good to 600-650rwhp. Just make sure to cut off the section of hard line where it goes from 3/8" to 5/16" inside the tank. That's a major restriction. You'll want 3/8" all the way through.

If you do decide to go with aftermarket lines, add about $750 to your budget for lines, fittings, hose ends, etc, and fittings welded to your fuel rails (-8an unions work great for this).

As a side note, the biggest fear in a fuel system is loss of pressure at WOT. Since I'm running a Delteq with an MSD DIS-4, I used a nitrous fuel pressure safety switch connected to the kill line of the MSD box. I currently have it set just below the base fuel pressure... Granted, a lean condition and some detonation can occur with fuel pressure above the base fuel pressure at high boost. This doesn't take all the threats away, but it's one more step towards a perfect safety system.
