IMO, if you are making the boost and hp levels that you are why would you even try to cut corners on the fuel system. $600 for Lonnies double pumper along with 60lb injectors are well worth it for the peace of mind of not melting an engine! Plus you can grow later and still have room to play with!

Sounds like he may have already learned the hard way. You cant watch, or shouldnt have to rely on watching you're wideband. Ive got a fuel press. gauge and wideband and I found out the hard way as well. Believe me when I tell you, running a boosted car down to 40 psi of fuel pressure is just plain STUPID. Its telling you the pump CANT handle the volume the engine is requiring, and its also telling you its overworking the pump. The moment that pump starts to weaken and run you lean @ WOT, and your wideband DOES go lean, and it will, the damage will already be done. If you dont have 2618 alloy pistons you will either end up like my first venture with a melted stock piston, my second venture, which blew the head gasket out, or possibly worse if you get into serious detonation. The people in this forum are experienced in this area, and have felt the pain so you dont have to. One walbro is NOT safe for a forced induction engine with 10+psi of boost and certainly not worth the risk.

my car was down with opti failure back on the road now cant drive much due to weather in delaware but im just relaying what i was told buy the person i got the car from who used all quality forged parts i believe the pistons r srw forged but as far as the pump failure i agree but cant afford a 600$ fuel system and as far as extra walbro and hobbs switch cant the same thing happen at wot if a relay fails or some other problem accurs

Anything CAN happen, but thats just luck. Having 2 walbros that are functioning properly will supposedly feed like 700 rwhp. If you still dont feel safe, get a electronic fuel press. gauge, like Ive got. I have a wideband for primary confirmation of an issue, fuel press. for obvious second confirmation the wideband isnt lying, and you could always wire a fuel pressure safety switch in like for nitrous that will illuminate a dummy light to make it really fool proof. Bottom line, NOT having the 2nd pump WILL put you at risk. The srp pistons will buy you some leeway, but nowhere near the beating a 2618 alloy piston can take.

I have a tendency to, quite frequently, blast the car down an empty road and watch my gauges, as much as possible at 100+ mph that is. I couldnt sleep blasting a car with boost and nitrous down the road and hope everything is functioning properly. Gauges are a necessity in a car like this IMO.

Yup, you could add a failsafe though. For example hoobs switch on the fuel rail, if the pressure drops below whatever have it pull the ICM signal/fuel enable low or something. High quality sealed relays are pretty reliable.
