Forged pistons and Forged rods + 12psi of boost

I have a 94 camaro z28 lt1. I currently have a turbo system on the car. I just wanted to know if I just replaced the stock pistons and rods in my car over to forged would it handle 12psi-15psi of boost. Any information would be helpfull. Also what rwhp range should I be in with 12-15psi of boost with stock heads and above?? I only plan to drive around all the time on 5psi and when I really want to run high boost -- I will turn the switch on. So basically I dont see what's wrong with just replacing the pistons and rods - since I'm not going to be having it on all the time crusing. - Mike

It's a sts t-67 turbo. Basically I just wanted to do a cheap rebuild so I could run higher boost. There's a ton of people making 550rwhp 633rwtq with just forged rods and pistons - stock crank, heads and all. Plus I dont intend to be running high boost all the time. 85% of the time I will be running 5psi - Mike

I don't see how that would be a problem. As long as the compression was lowered to handle it.

He's right, the only thing no one has mentioned is adding the additional fuel and taking out enough timing for the additional boost. If you are going to change the boost from 5 to 12 psi then you'll need to re-flash the pcm for the new airflow and make sure the injectors and fuel pump are large enough. The only other option is to use an FMU and some kind of adjustable timing control like the MSD 6BTM, which you might already be using with your set up. Just remember that niether of those items are a precise way to control fuel or timing and the more power the engine is making the easier it is to damage things if the tune is not right on.
