FMIC placement in a 96 T/A

I just bought a vortech v-1 s trim non intercooled. How can I mount an inter cooler up front and get good air flow? Is that the best place for it ? And what size intercooler do I need. I would like to run 8-9psi.Has anyone done this, if so could you post some pics.Any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: FMIC placement in a 96 T/A

do you have any pics with the nose mounted? My problem is air flow. If I put it up front like that would taking out the fog laps be enough air flow? My idea was mount it up front, take out the fog lamps, and cut a slit in the nose on the underside, with about a 1inch air dam.Does that sound alright or what? This car is not like a LS1 car.
I cant cut out the front end and not look stupid.

Are twin high-fows the way to go in my situation? If so, does anybody know where I can get some cheap?

I have a OBX that we are gonna do a front mount with on my '95 formy. I've got a vortech t-trim thats gonna be blowing through it. My brothers done the fmic w/OBX cooler on his '98 formy and should be able to help me get this one done.

This might be a little more help. It's at least an LT1 Firebird Formula.

I would say yeah... An S-trim won't max out the twin high flows by any means and it you won't have to do anything funky with the nose...

I have twin high-flows on my car right now for a T-76 Q-trim build-up... I'm probably going to hinder flow and horsepower by using them, but I just can't bring myself to chop up a '96 formula nose for a FMIC. Hopefully I'll still squeeze 700rwhp through a 6 speed out of them.

I would say yes here as I'm going through the same thing. In the process of building a max effort 383/D-1SC setup and the intercooler is a sore point. Essentially, we Trans Am guys are screwed. There's just no way to get a healthy amount of airflow over the FMIC with our nose. The Camaro guys (both early and late 4th gens) and late 4th Gen T/A's along with the Formy's have it much easier as there's easy ways to open the nose without looking ridiculous.

Here's a suggestion (I'm 99% going this route if the Twins don't do good enough): Maybe try running a methanol injection in addition to the twin intercoolers.

Another thought I had was either dual small electric fans on the twins, or a fan setup on a FMIC behind the LT1 T/A nose.

If your gonna go thru all of that trouble why not just get a air to water setup from PTK
