First WOT blasts with new cam...

All I can say is holy ***!!!! I was so happy when I hit it the first time. I jsut put 100 miles on it, changed oil and filter to mobil 1, filled up the alky tank, and I went out tonight with the cold air and let this baby rip. Now the cam sounded nice and all when I drove it around and it noticeably louder at all RPMs but at WOT, forget about it man. I swear I woke the dead tonight. I leaned into it in second and third on the freeway and it just kept pulling HARDER AND HARDER!!! I gathered enough ***** to nail it in first, broke the tires loose, powershifted to second at which point I proceeded down the road sideways feathering between 4-5K with a big *** smile on face the whole time. This cam is great I love it!!!!! I still need to experiment with it but so far I am very satisfied. I make 14-16 inches of vacumn, rumbling like a **** and the blower whining to rumble - music to my ears haha.

Problems now:

1) The cam doesn't like to be under 1600 or it will surge a little bit. I know that there are people with much bigger cams with no surging. What do I get Brian to change in programming to deal with surging??? I'm going to hook up the laptop tomorrow and log some runs but I want to know stuff in specific I should look for or tell Brian about.

2) Every since I installed the alcohol injection my stock tach will tweak out a little bit after 4K. It's kind of hard to see the benefits of the cam when you can't see how high you are revving so you have to short shift. My autometer's tach wire is not hooked up at the moment but I am wondering why my stock tach tweaks like that. I know for sure the ground on the shock tower is tightened down. Is there anything else I should check? It's only the tach, the speedo is fine. Also, the tach wire should be the red connector on the PCM #13 right???

Thanks!

Thats just awsome man, Thats a pretty big cam you got there. Are you still stock diplacement?. Where does your car idle at when sitting still?. Also when do you have your alky come on, I have mine come on at 5psi of boost and you can feel it. Kinda feels like a shot of n20.

Yea I am still on the stock bottom end. I have the alcohol coming on at about 3 psi so pretty much every time I go WOT the alky is on... I can't feel a difference when the alcohol kick in because it kicks in when I floor it, but it made a HUGE difference from when I was running unintercooled to now. Alky is great huh??? My car will idle smoothly at 900-1000 depending on temp on a pcmforless base tune for the cam.

Maybee I said that wrong, I didnt me feel when it came on but I do hear how the motor responds when it does come on. How much have your iats dropped since youve put the alky on it?.

Thumbs up

Sounds like the combo is running well. After all you've been through you deserve it. When I look at the specs of that cam I can't help but think you took a 224/236/114 and modified it to your current specs. Did you alter the lift numbers and/or ICL or did you just leave that up to them? Anyway, the 224/236 with some extra duration and LSA sounds like a killer cam.....congrats!

Whatsup Charlie. Yes this cam is working out very good! The grind is actually much more agressive than the 224/236 grind and makes more lift at 200 and up. The higher lift version of the 224/236 cam makes so much lift that you need a crazy valve spring to support the .600+ lift on the exhaust side. I thought this would be a better choice and so far I'm VERY happy. The car feels extremely powerful and keeps pulling harder and harder, I love it.
