F1r on an LT1

I hear that is has never been done, I also hear that if you were to attempt this, you would need to cut the car up to make it fit....
does anyone know anything to the contrary.....I heard rumors that there is an LT1 car in the texas area with the F1R on it...anyone else hear this???Would love to see pics

I have seen it done...There are people on here that have done it...Just wait, the will come. However, it is more fun when you cut it up and make it custom

Yes an f1r can and will fit an LT1. The overall shape of the s/c it self is the same as the f1 but the impeller is whats different. You will have to grind a little on the block but that should be about it.

Re: F1r on an LT1

If I am not mistaken, the blower itself is actually bigger by a substantial amount..... he had to grind a touch to get the F1 to fit, but NOT the F1R

Someone has tried although it did not actually fit...they went with the F1 instead.....

So far it looks like no one on earth has this done....still waiting on a spoter to confirm if the texas car with the F1R really exists.

Re: F1r on an LT1

It would be a custom job to get it to fit. It is physically larger than the F1. About 1" larger diameter to the housing and there is about 1/8" of clearance with the F1. The F1 flows 1525CFM, enough to give a typical LT1 stroker up to ~20psi. Do you really need more? Only if you are going to be building a car to run on race gas. In that case, you might want to go even bigger than the F1R, depending howw fast you plan to turn it.

Re: F1r on an LT1

WOW...I stand corrected

Now all you smart people out there please set me straight here. I talked to a procharger tech not to long ago when I was having my wifes superharger rebuilt and he said that people think that the "r is for race, but it is actually for reverse rotation." Is this B.S. Because a friend of mine runs a f-2r on his mustang and it is not going in reverse. But I saw this car in GMHP who said they were running the r version so they could turn it in reverse to point the inlet toward the tront of the car.

Please respond o masters of the belt-driven world

Re: F1r on an LT1

The F1 and the F1R are different blower. Look at Procharger's website http://www.procharger.com/models.shtml and you can see that most of the models are available as reverse rotation, but that has nothing to do with the "R" designation in the name.

The F1 fitrs pretty easily on a 4th gen, the F1R does not.

Thanks!

So you can get an f1r in reverse rotation and "R" does not have anything to do with rotation, but perhaps pump trim?

Yes, the "R" in the model is NOT the rotation...it's more of a trim designation.

BTW: There is no such thing as an F2R. An F2
Reverse maybe, but not an F2R. The only F2 models are the straight F2, and the F2M (for mod-motor Mustangs, not suited for anything else).

Most all the "SC" and "F" blowers are available in standard and reverse rotation.

Re: F1r on an LT1

So no F2R, just a bunch of BS being thrown in the fan and landing on my face. I guess half of everyone I talk to say "R" afterwards: like that is going to somehow impress me.

I wish people would just tell the truth about their systems so it would not be so confusing. Even the tech at procharger was blowing smoke.

I am going to stick with turbos, at least I know when someone is full of it there.

Thanks for the education! Now I got a couple of people I need to call

Re: F1r on an LT1

ponyhntr is right

I was originally planning to strap an F1R on my 383. I knew there would be some customization to get it to fit, but I though all the F series would require it. If the F1 will fit in nicely, I might just go with that instead.
