Exhaust valve seal issues
Exhaust valve seal issues
Starting to put my setup back together. Haven't pulled a spring off yet but each exhaust seal is sitting at the top of the valve touching the retainer. The guides have all been replaced - machine shop said it was normal some of the seals float.... I'm wanting a second view. Going to pull them off and measure the guides/seals soon to make sure they match.
-Crazy pressure from turbo and very high back pressure (over 600rwhp throuh a t4 flange and single 3" exhaust)
-Heat damaged them?
-Wrong size?
I've read a few setups that don't run exhaust valve seals because a little extra oil helps prolong the guide life.... Or is it possible that my 3 broken pistons were still sealing and all the oil (quite a bit) was just from 8 bad seals?
Anyone have any insight or similar experiences? I found a boosted ls1 that had all the seals pushed off and he suspected boost/backpressure also.
