I'm going to be running a vortech strim and was wondering if I should get a bypass valve or a blow off valve. I heard that blow off valves release more air.

I think what your asking is"Do you need a bypass valve if you have a bov.?"
The answer is no b/c there essentially the same thing. But alot of people with blowere applications are running a bov with success.

If your running alot of boost a bypass valve would be almost necessary. A blow off valve releases air when there is a sudden pressure increase (letting off the gas under boost). A supercharger is ALWAYS making pressure before the TB blades. If there isnt something to release the pressure you can kiss the bearings on your SC good bye. A bypass valve is open when your engine is under vacume (idle and cruising) a blow off valve is closed.

Not trying to be an a$$ or anything but are you sure?. A bov is vacume operated just like a bypass. When your out of boost and seeing vacume a bov is open until until you get on it and start seeing boost. It then closes the valve when in boost and opens back up when out. What am I missing here?.

are you sure? Im almost positive a BOV is closed except when there is a sudden increase in boost. Turbos dont make boost at idle..

Bypass valve- Supercharger application. Open under vacuum/cruising to 'bypass' air from the supercharger. Closed under boost.

BOV- Turbo application. Closed under vacuum/cruising. Only opens after boost is made and throttle closes.

My S-Trim kit came with a by-pass valve....no need for a BOV.

Here's the Mondo if you don't have it.
