Do you need to add extra oil every change if you are tapping the oil pan???

Do you need to add extra oil every change if you are tapping the oil pan???
I was just curious, do you need extra oil in the system to cover the blower and the lines??? I haven't even checked the oil level yet but I am pretty sure its okay... I put 5 quarts in.
