descreened MAF?

I have seen long debates over the use of the stock f-body MAF without the screen. I have seen many people say that its not really a performance increase on an NA LT1.

My question is how does it effect a blown car. Its a 355 with a vortech s-trim at 12 lbs (hot cam also).

Thanks.

I run the stock unmodified MAF. Works fine.

Do you run a blow-thru or a pull-thru MAF? I can understand that a blow-thru maf would be ok with the screen, but from what I have heard, any airflow restrictions on the intake side of the headunit is bad for power. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks.

Did an experiement this year when tuning my car. Put it in speed-density mode and ran it without anything on the intake side. It made 22psi of boost compared to 17psi with a custom fabricated intake "hard pipe". So, that illustrates what intake restriction can do. Made a big believer out of me. As a consequence, I will be switching my car to a "blow through" configuration next year.

Too bad I didn't think of it, because while we were fooling around it would have been very easy to test an MAF with and wothout a screen. But I run without one on the theory that it can't hurt and might help. Wish I had done that little experiment to put this to rest once and for all.

I've run it both ways without any problems, other than the car not running after I blow off a part of the intake with the MAF on the suction side. I ran the Blow thru due to my turbo having a 4 " inlet. I just ran an elbow and a large 4" K&N filter off of that.
