D1SC on the way. Pistons and injectors needed

I'm looking for a good set of blower piston for my LT1 383 along with a set of 60lbs injectors. I'm running a 5.7 rod with stock ported heads and would like my CR to be around 9.0. Nothing to spendy.

Je makes some nice -31cc 383 pistons. Also I saw an SDCE setup in the for sale section yesterday. Did you buy your D1SC as a new kit or used.

I bought a used kit off ramair96ws6. Now I need to get my engine ready to handle the boost. I'm going to start around 10-12lbs of boost and see how that goes. My target hp will be around 550-600.

I am running Diamond Pistons and I like them alot. I also use and reccomend Mototron 60# injectors. I think I got mine through Speed Inc. as they were the cheepest at the time.

9:1 CR will be fine. I am running 15#'s of boost and getting 614 RWHP with all kinds of safety room to spare with my 8.8:1 setup.

JE's are good too and 9.0cr is good number to work w/. Run 8.8:1 on my seeing close to 23psi. Don't bother w/ that SDCE setup in the FS...I already bought it.

Ya I knew that SDCE setup wouldn't last long.

Stephen,

You might be better off selling your 383 or trading for a lower compression shortblock. Would some 65cc AFR eliminators get your compression down enough?

I dont have the money to get heads and then freshin up the bottom end. the engine only has a couple thousands miles on it but it got the bottle a few times. I feel safer starting with a fresh bottom end.

Go for the -31cc JE's. Be sure to gap your rings correctly as well. Lean towards the larger side. I noticed your "100 shot" in your sig, so i would guess you'll be tempted to try that...

siemen deka 60# (also called mototrons) will be your best shot
check speed inc and yourperformancesource.com they are normally the cheapest for them. I think i paid just over 300 for mine couple years ago and looks like they are about 350 now.

I spoke with my engine guy today about what pistons to run. He said I could run 6-8lbs with the set-up I have now (11-1CR). Really I only want an extra 150hp for now. Run it like this for one summer and redo the engine for next year for big boost. I'm sure I'll be happy with the power I only made 360whp /380T this summer. I ran a 100 shot and it was amazing so 150 extra hp should be even better. And I don't have the 2 grand to redo my shortblock now. I'm sure if I had to I could do it but I might have to sleep on the couch for a couple weeks.

Let me know what you guys think.

^ I think that is a little on the dangerous side running that much CR with 6-8#'s of boost.

If you do, I would HIGHLY reccomend a safe tune along with an upgraded fuel and ignition system, along with both a large FMIC and meth injection.

Perhaps I am running a bit on the conservative side on this one, but IMO it is better to be conservative, then spend the money, and go through the trouble all to have your motor blow unexpeditly early, and then be out off all that time, work, and money with little to no play time in the car.

It'll have two walbro pumps, 60lbs injectors, Aeromotive Regulator, Mallory 685 Box, Large FMIC and a conservative tune.
What about hogging out the heads?
I don't want to destroy my engine but I'm going to get myself in some trouble if I spend another 2 grand on my short block.

anyone else think the same?

There are some people that run boost on the stock LT1, but we all know how things end up for them in the end (which usually isn't very far away).

If you want to be safe, and not spend more money now, why not just wait until you are ready to do it right and spend the money that is needed to go fast reliably? If that doesn't sound like your cup of tea, then I would reccomend to maybe dim down the boost to more like 4-6#'s and run meth injection on top of what you were planning.

aeromotive regulators are prone to failure. Look into magnafuel instead
