D-1sc....... can it run under 12psi?

The D-1sc is listed as being capable of 12-20 psi. If I were inclined to run it at a slightly lower boost of 8 or 10 psi...... all I would have to do is pulley down, right?

Or is there some greater reason why I wouldn't want to run a D-1sc lower than 12psi?

I think that I would eventually work up to 12, but I'd like to start at 8.

The car is a 1994 Trans Am GT and the final setup will be an all-forged 355 LT1 with CR of 9.2:1 and sporting AFR LT4 195cc heads that have been ported/polished by GTP. The valvetrain and all peripherals are modified as well.

For now, I intend to stay with the cam that is currently in the 355..... a 224/236 .536/.555 115 that I originally bought for my automatic Camaro but hope to use with the 6-speed Trans Am. Does anyone see any issues with using this cam? I believe it uses the Comp Cams Extreme Energy lobes with the steep ramps.

Ok, that's all the questions I can come up with for now. Thanks for the input.

its capable of any boost under its max. My D1SC was showing me 3# before. They come with 4#,8# pulleys, etc

and why "work up" to the boost you want to be at? if you are building a blower motor and have everything supported, then why not save the $ and just get only the pulley you need. i duno maybe its just me, id rather just get down to business

I was unaware that ATI made a 4lb boost for a D1SC. I am pretty sure they make a 4.5lb pulley for a P1SC.

Well, I'm just not sure how much power it's going to make. That, and I'm a beginning tuner, so I'd like to start out 'easy' and work from there.

The ONLY weak link on this car is the 10-bolt. It has been rebuilt already to make it as strong as a 10-bolt can be, but it won't be lasting too much longer once the blower is installed.

As for fuel delivery.... I'm running a Walbro 255 lph pump as part of a Racetronix kit and in coordination with a set of 36# injectors on stock fuel lines and fuel rails, etc. Does this sound sufficient?

Are you planning on running an FMU? I would probably go with 42lb injectors and ditch the FMU. This will give you a little room to grow.

Any blower can put out any amount of boost. Most the numbers they give you are for stock motors and such. If you have a motor with free flowing heads and low compression, It will pull less boost than a stock motor. For all you know with your good heads and low compression, You may put the kit on with the pulley it comes with and only pull 7 lbs. of boost. The only thing to do is get the kit on and try it. See how much it pulls then order pulleys to compensate around the number you have.

The main complication is finding the proper length belt for the corresponding pulley sizes (& sometimes pulley clearance).

With your engine mods, getting lower boost should not be a problem because of the increased head/cam flow characteristcs.

I don't have a blower system yet, but if you still have it available when I do I'll give you a call.

If I'm lucky, I'll have one by the end of the week. That way, since my girlfriend is down there in San Antonio near you... I can have her fly it home to me and save on shipping!

Oh, and hands off the woman. I want my Yankee 36 C's back untarnished!
