crank pulley problem with vortech.....
hey my vortech kit comes with the new crank pully and is supposed to use the stock pulley hub. the only problem is that if i remeber correctly my stock pulley and hub are all one piece.
anyone else have the same thing?
i guess ill have to buy a crankshaft pulley hub....

The vortech kit is supposed to come with a machined (modified stock) crank pulley, did yours? The stock crank pulley/harmonic balancer is held onto the crankshaft with a hub. The hub and crank pulley are 2 pieces, not one. The crank pulley should come right off of the hub after removing 3 bolts. You may have to use a little wd40 and tap with a hammer a few times to get it off.
BTW, the vortech crank pulley/modified harmonic balancer/blower pulley/belt has worked great on my car so far. IT is aligned perfectly. I couldn't say that for ati, it was never aligned correctly and was not reliable. The engine runs smoother with the vortech stuff on it. The ati 12-rib caused a weird harmonic vibe for some reason

Re: crank pulley problem with vortech.....
yeah, all the rust on the pulley and the hub made it look like one piece. we got it off. it took a little more than tapping though....it was truly a pain!
the instructions for the kit are very vague. the pictures are grainy, the diagrams are hard to understand. all this relocation crap sucks....oh well, thats the price you pay for performance right!
