Compression Test on 383 w/Blower

Basically I'm wondering what the average compression test numbers should look like for a low compression 383 with a large cam (ie. mine) just turning the motor with the starter. =)

Re: Compression Test on 383 w/Blower

I can tell you this much, a low compression two-stroke WILL run at about 90-100 lbs ... But it needed new rings. It failed to start at 60lbs.

If its lower then 100lbs, Id start to get worried.

Hopefully Bret or Rick can chime in and let you know what it should be. I really have no idea on a low compression blower car.

This is the range you shoot for for an average NA 4 Stroke engine. It's gotta be a little lower for a low compression motor. I would expect to see #'s on the low range of that ...

doing some quick and dirty math...

145-160 @ 11:1 should be around 118.6-130.9 @ 9:1. Like said above, if it's under 100, be worried.
