Cometic .125 gaskets, 48# injectors enough?

first question: i might buy a set of used Accel 48# injectors from a local guy because i plan on putting a supercharger on my car in the near future. will these injectors be enough to run without an FMU on a car that would probally make about 500RWHP thru an auto?

second question: currently, my bottem end is a 355ci, 6inch eagle rods, keith black flat-top pistons, and its right around 11:1. i read in the latest hot rod mag that they put some Cometic .125 thousandths gaskets on a big motor, that was 10.75:1 and it dropped to like 9.5:1. so im thining if i run these gaskets ill be down to at least 10:1 and that will be suffecient for 10#'s of boost with water/methanol injection and pump gas?

is anybody here running the Cometic gaskets? i know thats what Ford put on the 03/04 Cobras and i havent seen one of those blow yet.

at first i canceled out the blower idea until i had money to re-do the shortblock, but if this option is do-able, i just might try it.

Yeah, lots of guys run the cometic gasket with great success. The problem is that I think they only make one thickness for the LT1. I don't remember the exact thickness, but it is nowhere near .125" thick.

they can make just about whatever thickness you want, just give them a call. for a 408 Dodge magnum turbo buildup i am doing they just make a .040 and .120 in regular producation, but when i called them they said they could do anything from .020-.076", and then could also do several sizes around .120". couldnt do a .090" like i really wanted though

stock gaskets or felpros will work just fine, with studs. If you want to run cometics the deck surface and head surface must smooth. If you have milling marks etched into the block your gaskets will leak. A good rule of thumb, if you can feel marks in the metal with your finger nail then its not smooth enough.

Im running cometics with no problems...

.125 head gaskets I guess quench isn't a concern? I was under the impression that anything over .055 piston to head distance was asking for detonation problems. Good luck whatever you do!

im gonna get the injectors just to have whenever i do decide to go with boost...

as far as the gaskets im gonna call cometic and see what they reccomend.

im putting the tranny back into the car tomarrow, and gonna go to gainsville raceway wed night and see how it does. apparently the last guy i got to do my transmission screwed me. i had a billet servo in it before, and a good friend of mine rebuilt it for me and he showed me the old parts, that joker put a corvette servo in it and took my good one out, put STOCK replacement clutches and bands in it when he told me they were the best, and stripped out 3 bolts to the valvebody. amazing the car ran what it did with the trans being so hacked up. so, now this is a really good friend of mine i know its got good stuff in it, if the car runs in the 10's @ 130 ill probally just sit back for a year or so and save money to build a nasty blower setup.
