Cloyes DR, ATI BB Hub, ASP 7" 8- rib pulley question
Cloyes DR, ATI BB Hub, ASP 7" 8- rib pulley question
Finally got some time to work on the car again. I installed the Cloyes DR timing set and checked clearance in the cover - all good. Had the cover machined for the BB seal and the WP drive hole welded shut as I am going with an EWP. I am running OBDI, so I do not have a reluctor ring on it. I installed the balancer (no spacer) and according to the paint worn off of the idler between it and the AC compressor the belt appears to be riding about 1/8" further out (towards the front of the car). I have not installed the head unit yet to see where the SC belt rides as I am looking for experienced info first. Has anybody got this combination and can throw in some advice?
Disregard my ignorance. I removed the hub and measured the distance from the front flat of the crank timing sprocket to the outside seal surface of the timing cover (0.700 in.), marked a line on the hub and reinstalled it. I previously stopped when I felt resistance which is where the hub leaves its own key and starts to enter the crank timing sprocket key. Now I saw that the mark was not far enough so I continued to press the hub on and it finally continued and went where it needed to. I have snapped many hub installation tools before, so I am now careful to not screw up the good one that I paid so much more for. The balancer now sits about 1/8" from the opti. For future reference this combination does not require the spacer to be installed.
Thanks, Chas
