Cheapest Way To ad 5LBS ob boost to my build?

I know my cast eagle crank can not handle 700HP, its raited at 500 hp.

I am in the process or building a 383 stroker. Here is the kit I bought:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...052653847&rd=1

I will be gettin my heads and intake manifold ported by advanced induction. I am going for the 185CC Street/Strip job for $1795 (with cam, Need to decided on cam based on boost) and the Street/Strip Ported Intake for $375.

So I have a prety good base engine for a little boost (right)..

So. whats the cheaperst way to add a few pounds?..

turbo, supercharger?..Im not again RearMount Turbos.. how do you feel about them.

just toss me some options if you know of any. Thanks

I dont know how it works, do I pay shipping both way?.. when do I pay.. tax?.. I have tried calling every few hours for the last 4 days and i keep gettin voicemail. I left a mesage the first time but no call back yet.

Hate to say it, but that stroker kit you bought is crap.

"Hypereutechtic pistons" Yep that means NO BOOST for you.

Hypereutectics are not designed to tolerate boost/detonation. It's also 11.3:1 with stock 58CC heads. You're getting stock ported castings, correct? What CC volume?

If you end up at ~10.5:1 (like a stock LT1) then you should be safe to run 5lbs. 7-9lbs and you better make sure you're on top of the tune, running an intercooler, alcohol/water inj.

The cheapest way would be to find something used. A Vortech S-trim kit, a Procharger, a custom turbo setup, a used STS system.

You might just want to put real nice NA cam in there!!

I got the H859CP Pistons wich makes 10.6:1 with stock 58 cc heads. I have a feeling that forced induction will run me over $2,500 once completed and intercooled. If i could add a few pounds for a grand or so I would do it, but since my setup cant take much more than 500hp its not really a good idea to stick more than 1K into a setup.

I think that with a nice NA cam and the 200CC heads from AI with the other stuff I have I should be close to 450HP anyway.

I think I will drop the idea of forced induction on this build. or atleast for now.

If I do decide to not go forced induction, I will look for a head CC that will give me about 11.2 - 11.5 (think I can get away with that much compression without knocking?

I dont think pushin your compression up that high will give you much more power anyways. You kind of screwed yourself when you selected the rotating assembly. When you build a FI engine you kind of need to reverse engineer the parts around it, ESPECIALLY if you're using an LT1 with stock head castings because the compression is so high unless you get super dished pistons on a 383. Take it from me, it aint cheap either. The pistons alone run 500-800 depending what you buy to be able to handle boost reliably. I say stick NA on your budget and put that money elsewhere like the others have said. Maybe get yourself a nitrous kit instead and shoot a 100 shot. Forced induction and cheap dont go hand in hand. Im still working on building the shortblock, but I already have the s/c. Id say average cost of a shortblock built for boost is at least $3500.
