changed direction(goin stealth)
changed direction(goin stealth)
well, i decided to tray and make it look as stock as possible with an intercooler and sts kit on the car. instead of using there pipes for the intake with the silicone hoses, i used the stock elbow, and hard plastic peice from my moroso intake. now ill put a billiet grill and have it powder coated black to block the intercooler. now when you pop the hood, it looks like a stock Z no signs of anything but a cold air intake.
anyone see any potential problems to using these parts?

Re: changed direction(goin stealth)
i think the elbow might be too soft to handle boost. but ive heard of some guys using them. id think that stuff would be blowing off pretty often.
you can get a hard elbow from summit.
oh yeah, the turbo will be obvious due to the whistle. but your not going to be able to completely hide any type of forced induction.

Re: changed direction(goin stealth)
i know, what this really is is me not wanting to move the MAF sensor and cruise control and riggin it to work someother way, im sure ill learn the hard way
Re: changed direction(goin stealth)
Just curious, why are you so set in having everything hidden? I know some guys like to be stealthy, but you could always tell people you race to go kick rocks if they ask you to pop the hood. Then that way you wont give up any hidden power adders and you will leave them wondering. I have no problem showing other car people what I have. But I guess we all have our thing. BUt I do think you are going to go through alot to attempt at concealing something thats quite obvious due to the blowoff/bypass valve and the telltale whistle of the turbo. And the fact that the turbo itself is visible from one peak under the vehicle. But hey, if it works, no harm in doing it. Have fun!
Re: changed direction(goin stealth)
i dont really want everything hiddin, i just cant get the pipes to work and dont want to have to move the maf sensor and he cruis control cuase i dontknow how
Re: changed direction(goin stealth)
post some pics on here to show what your talking about. i dont see how moving the maf would be any big deal especially with that 6" extension i posted a link to.
Re: changed direction(goin stealth)
thanx i didnt even notice the link last time. do you have any info on how to move the traction control? also the other sensor in the intake elbow, what would i do with that?
Re: changed direction(goin stealth)
I'm assuming the other sensor that you're referring to is the temp sensor. I did an STS install on another f-body and there was an existing hole in the intake piping where this sensor "plugs" into. You have to use the rubber grommet to make it work. STS should have included one in the kit, they did for the car that I worked on..
Re: changed direction(goin stealth)
if you get the vortech elbow, there is a hole with threads in it. you have to file down the lip on the sensor and thread it with a die. they should have instructions with the elbow.
this maybe your best bet. im not sure where the air temp sensor is supposed to be located on the sts ls1 kit.

Re: changed direction(goin stealth)
did some thinkin, and measuring, and have come to the conclusion that i will order a trick flow intake, keep the maf sensor in the stock location, and have a new pipe made that goes from 3 1/2 on the MAF sensor side to the 2 1/2 in intake size i need and run it right back down were the cai goes. thanx for the help
Re: changed direction(goin stealth)
just use a 3.5" connector (which i think the Trickflow elbow comes with one already) to put the maf on the elbow and then use one of these on the other side to connect your 2.5" pipe to your maf......http://www.fullthrottlespeed.com/ite...50~eq~~Tp~.htm
no need to use hard pipe. youll just have to use one more silicone coupler....
