carb, TBI, or MPI

Going to tear into the engine bay again this winter. I have a vortech blower waiting to be installed. Will be intercooled and i plan on running it at around 5-8psi....

right now i have a carb (holly) that is going to be way undersized (600cfm). Was going to pick up a blower calibrated carb off jegs or summit then i thought "why not go fuel injected"

is it worth the few hundred more to go TBI or a grand more and go MPI?Should i stick with the carb?
dream is by next summer to be in the 10's (will be happy wit 10.999)

BTW new heads are on the way also.

Blower + EFI is a combo made in heaven. Tuning a blower+carb is not a job for the faint hearted or the uninitiated. Unfortunately, an EFI setup is going to be a lot more than a grand over the price of a carb.

I vote for the carb. Rich is right, to set up fuel injection for boost is going to be way, way over a grand once you include the fuel system and tuning.

I just built a turbo setup using a CSU carburetor. The only change we made was moving the secondary linkage. It made anywhere from 480 (3.5 psi) to 930 hp (18 psi) on an engine dyno without any calibration changes to the carb.

BTW, there is a Mustang out there that's running in the 8's with a single 650 Holley and blow-through turbo.

most carbs that would do the job is about 750. TBI is about 1000 for everything minus the fuel pump and filter (already have) I would just need a return line. MPI is about 2500.

not looking for that perfect track tune. Going to be on the street 90% of the time. I was thinking with a dyno tune it shoudl be close enough no?

Did you figure in enough injector to make 500 hp? I'm not sure if such an animal even exists. . .

I had extremely good luck with csucarbs.com. $800, but as I said, the only change I made was moving the secondary linkage. 930 fwhp right out the box. It was worth every penny.
