Can you safely run an STS kit on a stock low miles LT1?

Just curious. I was looking at the STS kit and think it would be great to have if I could safely run it on a stock LT1 w/o worrying too much about blowing the motor. Its a daily driver so I would need some degree of reliability. The motor is pretty new in the car, about 12k miles on a new GM service engine. And I started running full synthetic in it as soon as I got it (about 3k miles ago) if that even makes a difference...I dunno.

I know our compression is pretty high and not ideal for lots of boost, but can you run 5-7 lbs every day pretty safely? Ok thats it, thanks

Run it at 5 pounds. Get an intercooler, a BTM box, and ditch the FMU for a bigger fuel pump, some larger injectors, and a tune. That's about as safe as you're going to get with a stock engine and boost.

the sts kit will run fine at 5 lbs, on stock injectors and a tune. no need for a intercooler or meth if your short on cash. the tune would be a must have.

this is good advice if you can afford it, otherwise a tune and 5psi will work

Too bad I put my truck in the shop or I'd let you check out my kit. I believe I am the only one in Sac right now with an STS kit. There a couple LS1s in the Bay Area with them though.

Well if I did it it wouldnt be for a while anyway. That would be cool to check out your truck. Let me know.
Thanks.

So... 3 people now say it would be fine at 5lbs and pretty safe? Or is it not a good idea?

5 lbs is fine you have nothign to worry about unless you have cruddy old injectors or a crappy fuel pump.

We ran the system on our stock LT1 for about a year, 3-7psi. Check out our site for info, or throw us an email.

BTW the motor is back in the car after a forged rebuild. Time to crank it up
