Cam suggestions 383 D1sc, AFR 210 LT4s ??

Hey guys, thinking of taking the plunge and converting my 383 NA solid roller car to a supercharged one.

The current specs
383 LT4 block with 4 bolt mains
Forged Eagle Crank, Rods, Mahle Pistons 11.9:1 compression
Cam motions solid roller (247/250 .658/.659 112)
Crane 11522 solid roller lifters
Jesel Shaft mount 1.6 rockers
Comp cams 943 pacalloy springs
Comp cams Titanium retainers
Comp cams 10 degree locks
AFR 210 LT4 heads ported/sleeved
59.5cc combustion chambers
2.10/1.625" Ferrera 6000 valves
LT4 intake manifold (ported, cut for monoblade)
Arizona Speed and Marine monoblade TB

The car made 429/430 NA on the dyno on pump gas and had a lil bit more in her but we ran out of tuning time.

The heads flow in the ~300/210 range at .600 lift, a little more at .650 and lost a few at .700. Dont have the sheets in front of me.

What cam do you guys think will do well with a D1SC. The kit will come with the twin flows but i will probably go with a FMIC and maybe meth injection down the road.

Of course I will be getting new Pistons, probably a -31cc JE. Using a simple online calculator it came out to 8.94:1

What cams do people suggest? Since the heads are setup to run solid I figured I would keep it that way unless there is a good reason not to??? Its not a daily driver but it does get driven especially weekends.

I've found the TS-224XH 224/236 duration, .605"/.622", 114lsa thats been suggested.
and Call911 seems to have excellent results from his Camshaft 244/254 @ .050, .578/.578 lift, 114* LSA
Would these convert well to a solid roller cam?

Also heard the name Bret Bauer a few times...but never a number to reach him. Does anyone have this? Does he actually order the cam for you?

I'm sure you guys will be getting plenty of questions from me over the nextt few months, be ready Thanks

I would go with something custom. There are plenty of shelf cams to pick from but i wouldnt want to leave anything on the table with a setup like yours.

That's exactly what I'm using with my turbo and it works pretty well. I ran it back when I was running a 383/AFR210's/Vortech T-trim. If I could do that combo over, I probably would make it a 224/230-112.

thanks for the reply, what kind of power/boost were you making with that cam on your old setup, and why would you think about changing it to 224/230?

At 13 psi boost, through a th350, it made 550 rwhp and ran 10.40 at 133 mph. I was going to swap it out to get the EVO later, which I believe woulda' been beneficial to the combo, though only slightly.

Me and Engineermike have talked about this before I have a 224/230 112LSA with lift in the .57x, .59x going in my VRE 383 LT4 216 AFR head motor.
2 things I have notice with blower motors, big cams usually don't translate into a lot quicker times and mph, and centri blowers need overlap. In fact if I was more of a track car instead of a DD I would have even more overlap than I do know.

Also something else, I would shoot for a higher CR if it was me. I am right at 9.1 with my motor but I have seen several fast cars in the 9.5 range. You can run pump if you like with the aid of meth, or you can just run race gas. Our LT1's are reversed cool so to be honest more CR could possibly be done. Not many people doing it, but is something that I believe would make the most power.

I have been running a CamMotion 231/ 240* (0.538/ 0.558 lift) @ 114 lsa/ 110* intake CL. 97ss Camaro M6. Some stats... 383 - D1 -28cc JE pistons Callies forged assembly. AFR 56cc 190 heads/ twin 58mm TB (9.5:1 comp ratio) with 72# Seimens injectors with my own OBD2 PCM tune with use of LT1_edit Ver 2.2. It is a semi - daily driver. I have it running good, and, has alot of top end up to 6800rpm (basic rpm range... 3500 to 6800) I use a 7.6 to 3.4" pd pulley ratio. This is my 4th cam and I like higher duration and blowers that have a higher step-up gearing ratio. I run a large Spearco with Methanol/ H2o. gm stock PCM's do not like much valve overlap. I've calculated about 8* @ 0.050" lift with this cam. Valve float can be a probllen, so, I run an AFR Rev kit. Hope this helps. B.

I may use methanol injection, but want to make sure i can keep it on pump gas. Its a semi daily driver, and i'd like to cruise around a bit in it. A -28cc dish will put it about 9.1

What kind of power are you making with this combo?

What valve springs are you using?

My old top end is still alive and kickin' You should sell the top end back to me and start fresh for your blower build

In any event, I always recommend Cam Motion. Only go with a company that has a proven track record.

1.460" afr dual valve spring with damper. 10* lock and titainium retainer. +AFR rev kit. I have also selected Comp ProMag RR's. Heads will only go to 0.600" lift.
