a cam question

Ive got a 383 with a P600b at around 12psi.. I bought this set up off a friend that made good power with this set up.. my question is should i run the 218/224 on a 114LSA with .520 (comp blower grind) thats in it or should i run my 230/236 on a 112 with .520. I know the bigger cam has alot of overlap but the other one just seems awfully small in general especially with 383ci.. BTW the only other major difference in set up between him and I is that he was running a highly modified/ported stock casting heads and ill be running very mild ported stock castings... What do you guys think? and BTW the blower cam is already installed but the big cam is fresh and ready too install and the engine is out so it wouldnt be a big deal too swap them, Thanks

put the bigger cam in the other is a baby cam and your heads could use the help.

I would go with the higher LSA. It'll keep you from blowing the fuel mixture out of the chamber. -That's my belief. The higher lift cams for FI would have a higher LSA, like 114 or 116 for your application (12 psi). If there's a higher separation, or overlap under heavy boost you can loose some of the fuel out the exhaust. You don't necessarily NEED a BIG cam for FI, the air is forced in there anyway.

225/225 .581 .581 113LSA

or a SC cam for example.... 226/234 .598 .599 116 or 117LSA (stock LS1 Cam is a 116 LSA for example)

If that does not make sense, please correct me.

i agree with you but as of right now those 2 cams are my choice.. i wanted too run the bigger cam but the 230/236 has like 9* of overlap with the 112.. like jeff said i was hoping the larger cam might pick up some of the slack from the heads but i didnt know if the overlap would hurt more than help (plus i want the sound) the small blower cam is proven he made 600+ with his good heads and better intake/TB set up im gonna look into POSSIBLY getting the same cam (230/236) with a more blower friendly 114 or 115LSA but if not im gonna run one of these two.. i really wanted too run the bigger one but after i got too thinking about it i duno if its a good idea, I dont want too put it in and it be a mess and have too turn around and swap it right back out after getting everything togather cause it was killing my set up and making less power than the baby cam would have.. thats my main concern.. if the big cam will make as much or more power as the small one without sacrificing much lowend or drivabilty with a good tune then i will definatly run it
