Arrow boosted Summit Federal Mogul rebuild kit...

http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...4&autoview=sku

This is the federal mogul rebuild kit sold by summit racing. It's for a 355 LT1 and has forged pistons (forged rods will be extra). My plans right now include this kit and ported heads and intake and cam from either Ai or LE. I was considering complete bolt-ons and 100hp shot, but I'm still debating on going with a vortech or procharger.

My question: Which kit should I buy to get me the proper compression ratio for a supercharged lt1?

Your compression ration will depend on how much boost you want to run, and how much power you want to make. Also, has anyone used this kit before? Any luck/bad experiences?

Well first off, Howdy fellow Jacksonviller! You should swing by Jersey Mikes on saturday afternoons or check out the local car club (coastal carolina fbody) dragslips.com/jville Anyways back to the question at hand!

That kit that you listed..will put the CR to about 10.4:1 not exactly boost friendly, you can probably run like 3 psi on that with pump gas. I recommend you get some dished pistons like these http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku
should put you at about 8.8:1 CR with 58 cc (stock lt1) heads. For rods you will want to either recondition yours and use ARP bolts or get some forged ones. For a street application i would said 4340 I-Beams should be sufficient..these scat ones are pretty nice for the price.. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...P&autoview=sku

then get a rebuild kit with just bearings and gaskets

I'd say you'd be in business for some spray and a boost later on. A nice cam and spring upgrade too. something like a 220/230 dur with a 112-114 LSA should be nice.

Hope this helps you some.

with forged pistions and 10.4:1 (near Stock compression) you could run more then 3psi... you could run twice that with no issue if you had a good tune..

would you want 10.4:1 for a boosted engine.. not really..you should at least drop it a full point.

I've never pushed the limit of the stock crank but I understand it can handle up to 500 hp at the flywheel. If he's talking about boost plus a 100 shot, the crank may be something to look at.

Also, you'll get more support from the mains if you stud them versus bolts. If that is a concern and you want to keep the stock stroke, then maybe a stud girdle will help secure the 2-bolt mains (boost plus 100 shot).

there have been many guys to take the stock crank to 500rwhp and above. Same for the rods, but they are weaker than the crank.
Go for 8:8:1-9:5:1 depending on how much boost
Le or Ai top end both good
forged~pistons, rods and crank depending on goals(*roughly* 10psi 500rwhp)

I never pushed the stock crank to the limit. So if it 500 rwhp I stand corrected.

I wouldnt feel safe with that much power on the stock crank either, but there are others who dont mind. The stock rods at that level would be something to lose some sleep over though. I dont know how people do it.
