Blower pulley change? vortech

hey guys, ive never dont a pulley change. any tips on the easiest way to do it?

its not a reverse thread or anything is it?

i was either going to try to break the bolt lose with the belt still on it so the pulley/impeller wont turn, and if that doesnt work, ill pull the blower off and wrap the belt around the pulley and the put the belt in the vise to hold it.

oh, and will i need a shorter belt going from a 3.33 to a 2.95 or will the tensioner pulley keep sufficient tension on it?

thanks,
Jeremy

That should work. No reverse threads either.

Yep. Need a new belt. We just talked about this here. I'll go out and get my P/N off of mine if it will help.

thanks. are you using a vortech belt?

i was just going to go down to the local auto store and get a slightly shorter belt and see how that works...

oh, and should the stock bypass valve still be sufficient for the time being? vortech says they are good for vehicles running 6-12psi. and i cant afford to go out and spend a few hundred bucks on a big *** bypass valve right now....

Let me get back to you tomorrow. It's been a little while since I ran the blower setup. I think I got the belt at NAPA, but I'll confirm.

Per your other post, you wont have any issues. Pretty sure guys used to go down to the 2.55 to max out T-trims. Just need the right belt.

ss#1230,

Sorry bud. I know I said I'd look for that belt. Would it help if I found it or did you get this figured out?

well i tried to get it off with a wrench because i didnt have enough room to get a socket on the breaker bar in there due to the fans.

im going to try again later when i have time to pull the fans out. so if you can give me the belt info id appreciate it...

just to confirm, you were using the belt on a 6" crank pulley and a 2.95 blower pulley right?

thanks,
Jeremy
