Blower pistons-which ones?

I just destroyed my 383 and need to rebuild. I need some recommendations on pistons. I will (hopefully) be reusing my Eagle 4340 crank and 6" h-beam rods. I am planning for 20-25 psi boost and 1000 hp. What are you guys using?
Thanks, Steve

What CR are you aiming for? If it's a pump gas setup and you want it low, you are going to have a problem getting a dish deep enough with a 6" rod and a 3.75" stroke - doesn't leave enough compression height. You may have the pistns down in the hole, which seems to work fine on blower cars. Ross makes blower pistons designed to be run down in the hole, I'd check with them.

I'm aiming for about 8 to 1. I would like to stay with pump gas (until I get to the track) if I can. What do you think about the JE extreme duty inv. dome piston? These pistons have a -28cc dish which should give me a little over 8 to 1.
What about the Diamond brand pistons?
Thanks, Steve

That seems to be what Rich recommends, at least as far as all of his posts that I've seen

Am I that predictable? Seriously, it is an excellent piston and I would have just said go with it, except I had in my mind it wasn't made in the correct compression height. But I just checked their catalog and it is available with a 1.125" CH, which is correct for a 3.75" stroke/6" rod combo. PN 170817

At least he is predictably correct.

I have the same JE pistons & 6" Pro-Mods. I would recommend these to anyone.

Both excellent pieces! And not much more expensive than the lesser Chinese stuff.

You have great taste in parts

Speed Pro aka TRW has some durable but heavy forged pistons for blowers. Mine are -20 dish. No problems so far and I am extremely happy with the balance of the motor. Very little vibrations. I still get piston knock when the engine is cold but I guess that is just what you have to deal with with Lt1's.

Have you considered CP pistons and/or Diamond... obviously both of them would be dished. Just some thoughts. I use CP 17cc dished.
