Which blower for my setup???

I have a solid-roller, fully forged (Callies Dragonslayer crank, Lunati Pro-Mod 5.85 rods, and JE forged pistons) 383 going in my 1994 Trans Am. The associated mods are:
TH-350
12-bolt with 3.73s
BMR tubular K-member, upper/lower A-Arms, SFCs, LCAs, PHR
Wolfe single Rear Drag Sway Bar, Torque Arm
Kooks 1 7/8 race headers with 3 1/2' collectors
true duals with dumps at the axle
fuel system setup to handle 1200hp (Jordon Musser's old fuel system)
17x9.5/17x11 Fikse FM5s with 335 dunlops out back
Baer Track kit
Corbeau a4 driver/passenger seat
battery relocated to trunk
Wolfe 6 point roll cage

I was originally going to go with a 350 direct port shot on top of this motor, hence the 10.5:1 compression ratio.

I have since kind of changed my mind and would like to go with a blower and nitrous on top of that, probably like a 150-200 shot.

Obviously to run a blower, I would need to get my compression ratio down. Someone said I could use some Cometic gaskets (real thick) which decrease the compression ratio a point and a half. This should bring me down to 9.0:1
Is that good enough?
My motor should make around 475rwhp through the a3 and 12-bolt I would like to make around 600-650rwhp with the blower and then spray the 150 shot on top of it at the track.

So what blower should I go with? I was thinking of the S-Trim. Would this be a good one to go with? Or is the ATI prochargers a lot better, and if so which one of those?

Thanks and if you need any other info, just ask

Re: Which blower for my setup???

if you do get your cr lower (however you choose to do it) if you go with a vortech i would at least get the t trim. the ys or ysi is another good choice
if you go procharger i would go D1 at least.

if i were you i wouldnt get either. i would forget the blower and the nitrous and just get a turbo. a nice 76gts would be great. or if you want to make big power a pte 88.

Re: Which blower for my setup???

Will that suffice on the change in gaskets, or should I really change the pistons out? I believe the ones I have are JE forged flat-tops, but the rings are setup for that 350 shot. Would the rings need to be changed up?

I just don't like the price of Turbos. Aren't most setups like 6000? I can get a blower (~3500) and different injectors for a lot less than 6000.

Oh and how many lbs. of boost could I go with on a motor like mine? Is say 16lbs or even 20, pushing it?

I think that if you try to drop your compression with an extra thick gasket, you're going to open up your quench way too far and run into detonation problems that you'll never fix.

If changing out your pistons are an option for you, then that's what you should do.

With the quality of the parts you've selected, there's no reason not to go with a YSi. Chris Sikora (Z8's) makes an excellent bracket/tensioner for it, and 600-650rwhp should be no problem in the least on blower alone.

Is there going to be any problem with using the ATI super dampener that I have with a blower? YSi trim, so that is a Vortech. Who has good prices on blowers?

No, there won't be if you get Chris' brackets, they actually require a Super Damper and ASP cog pulleys. ASP could probably get you some ribbed pullies as well if that's what you wanted. Any pulley that comes from the supercharger maker will not work with the Super Damper, you'll need custom pulleys or machining of their pulleys regardless.

YSi is a Vortech, info here: http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/.../ysi-trim.html

I got a great deal on mine from T Byrne, they've had specials on them from time to time.

VERY NICE. I can see I will be asking you many questions in the future.

So Tbyrne is where you picked it up at. I will have to get in touch with you. And that bad boy can see up to 30#s of boost
About how much power you think that would add to my setup? My setup "should" see about 475rwhp N/A.

Thanks for all your help.
