Blower belt and Smog test?

Just curious what the opinions are on whether it is beneficial to run with OR without the blower belt, assuming an idle and part-throttle roller test and NO changes to the computer before the test?

Should have zero effect on emissions testing, since testing is done at idle and/or part throttle (when you're not making boost).

Re: Blower belt and Smog test?

I've run the tests with and without the blower belt on. It shouldn't make a big difference either way.

The main thing to look for is a good cat converter. The cat has made me fail a few times, because I didn't know it was damaged. I ran the car in open loop for awhile. A cat just won't survive doing this, believe me.

A few years back, I put on the flp longtubes with their matching cats. It was amazing how clean this LT1 was running. Cleaner than stock no lie. And it picked up enormous power over edelbrock shorties and a single cat setup.

Brian, looks like you have a good setup. Have you dynoed yet?

Re: Blower belt and Smog test?

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm planning to give smog a shot tomorrow and was looking for every ounce I can get.

Ed - Nope, haven't dyno'd yet...only got a couple hundred miles on it and I want to get smog out of the way first. I'm also having issues with the 2-3 shift at WOT...I have to back off the throttle just a tad to get it to shift. So much changed in the formula this last time around that it could be several things. Once smog is out of the way <fingers-crossed>, I'll get down to business and post the results.
