Billet 4130 LT1/4 balancer hub

I am inquiring if there is any interest in a keyed billet 4130 steel balancer hub for those with superchargers with the LT1/4 engines. As most of you know the LT1/4 series engines uses a strictly press on cast iron hub which is not keyed. There has been instances where the GM hub has slipped or broke in supercharger applications. I have just made one for my own car which is a 95 C4 Corvette with a 396 Supercharged LT4 with a cogged belt drive. Check the hub out here:

There are some aftermarket hubs out there, but these are reworked GM hubs which has been weakend by the machining process to broach the key slot into the hub. I would never even consider cutting a key slot into a stock GM cast iron hub. Please reply if you are interested, I have a very close working relationship with a top notch machine shop to make these.

Many people with a 1000hp and keyed stock hub. Not sure i would spend insane money on a billet hub. I must say that was a very nice piece.

Cost is going to be dependent on the generated interest. I plan on making them on a CNC lathe which once the tooling is made up will drive the cost down. It will be more than what Thunder Racing is charging now for theirs but not sure what cost yet. This one was made as just the other day for my cam swap.

I'd consider one in the $200-250 range. Not more.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but why go w/ this at all. If I recall correctly, to "legally" run under 11.00, you need an SFI approved balancer. So why not just to something like a one-piece Fluidamper, and no longer deal w/ the seperate hub?

What's crackin' fool, this is Dale, what's going on with your cars? I read on here somewhere where you broke the snout off of your crank, is everything back up and running now?

Also what's your new phone number, email it to me at dyoung@abssinc.com, later man.

I am not sure what is available for the F body that is SFI approved that is either a one piece or a similar two peice affair such as what GM has given us. My main goal was to have a bullet proof peice that would be able to drive a cogged belt driven blower without any fear of it slipping or breaking.

In my Corvette I don't have the option of a SFI approved balancer that can also drive a blower. My setup is totally custom made and is bullet proof, the crank snout will either break off or the blower belt will come apart before the hub will break. See below is an image of my cogged belt drive for my Vortech blown 396 LT4 C4.

As you can see my drive system is one in the same as the accessory drive. However given the stress of a high boost cogged belt drive blower in a F body application I would still want a keyed hub in place.

There are 3 that I know of:
- Fluidamper, probably the most popular and best choice for most people
- ATI has their own 1 piece unit
- Jegs now sells their own 2 piece unit (though you have to buy their hub to work w/ their crank pulley)

I believe all 3 are SFI approved.
