Best SC (Procharger) setup for 383 LT1

I am now in the market for a Procharger for my LT1. Here is the motor setup:

Eagle 4340 forged rotating assembly w/ H beam rods
4 bolt splayed mains
SRP forged 9:1 pistons
LT4 heads & intake
GMPP Hot cam & 1.6 rockers
52mm TB

Looking to make 600-700 FW HP. The motor is not in the car yet, so it will be easy to do any work needed (i.e. oil pan tap) to add the SC at this point.

I need "expert" advice as to which Procharger model to use (P600B, P1SC, D1, D1SC, etc) and which intercooler to use (2 core, 3 core, dual twin). My TA has been lowered about 1", and I read that this can cause a problem with the 2 core IC from ATI.

Thanks for any advice or suggestions.

I am thinking you will be good with an ATI D1SC. I would just get the standard kit with the twin high flow intercoolers. Another option would be a Vortech T-trim with a custom front mount intercooler. I think either option would suit your hp needs.

I would not even consider the 2 core IC at that HP Level or the P1SC/P600B. I would also recommend either the D1 or D1SC and a front mounted 3 core or the twin IC.

You can contact Lonnie Pavtis at lpavtis@westol.com
Here is his website: www.westol.com/lpavtis

He would be able to recommend the best set up for you and be able to get it to you at a great price too. He's a great guy to do business with.

Thanks,
Claude

I would spend some of the blower money to get a good blower cam. You’ll make a lot more power w/ a better grind.

I’d say the D1SC would be the route to take. If you go w/ a front-mounted 3-core, either get one made from Spearco or try to get your hands on a sheetmetal unit. The standard 3-core may become a restriction at the power level you’re wanting.

Thumbs up Thanks for the input!

I found some fuel injector & pump calculators and plugged in my numbers- looks like w/o a lot of extra work (& $$$ ), I can do 550 FW HP OK, which is fine with me. To get there, a 2 core with 10 +/- PSI should do the trick.

I've also run this setup on the Dyno 2000 engine simulation and confirmed the numbers (531 HP @ 6K RPM with 10 PSI), although I could use some numbers for the Prochargers (i.e. Flow in CFM, speed, efficiency, pressure ratio, belt ratio, internal gear ratio). I'm going to see if I can find this info. for the Prochargers and update my simulation

Since I'm building the car for open road racing, I think this setup will do the job OK.

I'll keep the cam choices in mind if I ever go this route again.

Thanks for the offer on the Vortech, but I'm looking for an ATI.

I'd say don't go with anything smaller then a D1. i'd do an F1sc with a front mount, my buddies car has that setup and it's f-ing sweet.
