Wink Base STS or supercharger to ls1?

Okay lets say I get an ls1 thats pretty much stock.....the base sts without anything else i guess is what 415hp? The whole process including labor and tuning would be what like 5 grand?

I don't know anything about f.i. but i'm going to buy an ls1 sooner or later and I just want someone to lend me their knowledge as to what the best buy would be... I'm not one of those guys who wants to reach 8 million hp i just want a decent setup so that i'm about as fast or faster than a c5 z-06

So what would be the best supercharger setup and how expensive is it compared to the sts? Which is more reliable? If I supercharge it will I have to worry about lots of crap breaking? I don't really want to have to upgrade different parts and stuff which is why i was leaning towards the sts. but if i did supercharge it I'd just do headers and a full exhaust and thats it. Can someone make sense out of everything i just said and gimme some wisdom? thanks

im kinda in the same boat but i do want the 8 trillion hp. ive been reading up nonstop on the sts and procharger d-1/f-1. sts might be around 5k or under when its all said and done. someone with one will correct me on that, but they say 5 hrs to install. procharger p-1sc ive seen for $4500, plus 5-6 hrs, check out superchargersonline.com, for decent prices on vortec and powerdyne. dont know much about powerdyne, but vortec requires something like 18-24 hrs install. that will hurt the budget. base unit is $3400 tho. any of the above should get you at least 410+rwhp

Right now i'm debating on either going the H/C route and keeping it N/A or doing the FI route, which I think would be badA$$. I heard alot of people saying you will see more power with the STS over a SC. The H/C route is safer, considering the LS1's compression ratio being what it is and not really built to have FI. But, with a good tune and only running 5-6 psi, how safe is the FI route, is there anyway to answer this without throwing one on and crossing your fingers.

If this is your goal, you don't need FI. Full Bolt-ons and Head and Cam package, would be much safer and will have no problem running with the Z06

Well how much money are we talking about with the H/C... plus i'd like to keep the same gas mileage... and sts claims to increase it lol.

I dunno tho... i have a 93 auto lt1 now.... bought it for 3800 with 55k miles on it.. which it has 75k now... so I could save money and just do it to that but I don't wanna boost the heck out of it so I wouldn't be too much faster than a stock ws6 ls1 i dont think.

Oh and what about the rear end with the base 5 psi... is everything safe?

Head and Cam Packages can be had for $2,000 to up to $4,000 depending on which one you go with and the tuning. This does not include the install cost, unless you are installing yourself.

As for the rear end, most people say they start experiencing trouble with this once you start putting down 425 RWHP, but w/ Full boltons and the H/C or the supercharger will put you in this neighborhood w/ an LS1, so its something to consider upgrading, however you could wait until is gives out then upgrade
