Re: STS Turbo Kit

Tsk tsk tsk....you've been here long enough to know better. Search button is your friend.

I've been reading more and more about people sucking up water and having to disconnect piping to dry it all out.

1 year plus and counting with no issues. It does get driven in the rain, but I just use the sock the kit came with. Its all good.

Re: STS Turbo Kit

The "sock" is the key to it all.

Keep your unit covered and nothing bad will happen to it. That applies to so many things

Re: STS Turbo Kit

I have had the system on my daily driven Z for two years, and have been fine with the sock. Once or so driving through pouring rain without the sock i have run into the filter getting damp an pulling small amounts of water through. Which was most noticeable because the droplets will hit the MAF and show spikes in AGS and dump fuel making the car feel like its missing. Keep the filter clean, use the sock if worried, and all will be good.

Re: STS Turbo Kit

Keep in mind an air filter will be a self-drying piece. Just because it doesnt feel too wet doesnt mean it hasnt soaked in some water. I dont think there is really going to be any full-proof way to say that you have soaked up no water EVER with your STS setup.

Twice, A trip to Synergy Motorsports fixed the first time and a trip to the doctor fixed the the 2nd time.

Keep your unit covered unless you're at the race track or unless you're married... Scratch that, keep it covered all the time! Kids are expensive!!!

No update on the truck yet. The Z71 will be finished here in the next couple weeks and then we can start on the Silverado. Almost all the parts are at the shop so things should go pretty quick and I should be getting times before mid summer.

The problem is I am NOT going to put acage in the truck so I'll be using a G-Timer to get most of my "testing phase" ETs until we nail down a solid tune, then I'll hit the track. My track is VERY strict and I may only get a few 10sec runs before I get the final boot and I want to make them count.

Re: STS Turbo Kit

So the sock actually works? Going turbo just seems so fun... L0L

I NEVER heard a blow off on these things though, just the spool up... Anyone else got some good sound/video clips of this thing? I'm looking looking for a ricer blowoff, just the whistle :-)

Re: STS Turbo Kit

Anyone have any tracks times before/after using this kit? I just want to slap this turbo on, 5psi, have it tuned, and hopefully hit some mid-low 12's. I have a brand new valvetrain. XE 227/233 Cam, 560/569 lift on a 114LSA.

Re: STS Turbo Kit

Before the turbo I had full bolt-ons and a cam. At 4900lb raceweight I went 14.29@97mph 2.0 60'. After the turbo I went 12.3@110mph 1.85 60' with a 5250lb raceweight.

Bone stock I ran 16.1@86mph 2.4 60'.

I'm running more than the 5psi setup though. LOL
