ATI or 383/427

hey there all. it is time to really make the SS haul ***. i was thinking of a ATI 7# ~500hp or a 383ci or 427ci LS1. if i do the ATI what all do i need to change or add to make the car handle 500hp without blowing up in a year or destroying the rear end.
whatever i do, i will need it to grab some asphalt and not just spin the tires.
thanks for the help.

Get ready to spend $10,000-$15,000.

This is an interesting question that I have pondered before. More motor or supercharger. I would like to hear some more opinions.

In general power potential per dollar is better with forced induction than strokers, especially when you get into the super stroker range, but reliability is compromised.

I'm converting from a procharger 8# setup to a 396 right now, I'll let you know when it's done. But for sure bottom end torque will be much improved with a stroker.

superjerry, have you been to the track with the set up in your sig? If so what times did you run and do you have any dyno results? Thanks.

I never ran it at the track or on a dyno, but I ran next to my buddy's chevelle that went 11.9, and boost just makes your car feel fast as hell

Question

This may sound stupid but, between stroking and blowing, on the average is reliability greater with a stroked motor? I always hear about people building these forged internalled strokers but they only last x amount of years or miles or other big problems occur. Please tell me otherwise.

I'm more of a N/A type but I like the idea of going supercharged with all the added hp and strokers seem to break one's pocket worse.

If you are going to do a supercharger, you have to be prepared to do a stroker, or at least a rebiuld when your stock bottom end goes.
