Anyone using a 1LE elbow on a s/c setup

I was checking over my engine over the weekend and i noticed that when I reved up the engine I could see my intake elbow expanding. ANd I see that the ATI piece is also rubber and I would assume it would expand as well. My question is how much power is this going to cost me? Would it be worth it to look into a vortech aluminum elbow of some kind?

As long as it isn't expanding to twice as big, you'll be alright. If it was happening over a larger area and not just the elbow, I would be concerned. Are you using the stock elbow? My ATI piece is aluminum.

Yeah thats where I think I got hosed. THe piece they sent me was a silicone 90. Thats what I am using now. It doesnt seemt expand as much as the 1LE. I'm kind of on teh look out for a vortech elbow or even the ATI piece like you have

You can get the trickflow and vortech elbows from Summit for a fairly reasonable price.

i was thinking that a silicone piece would be better as far as heat soak. ive always wondered why the blower companies (Vortech, ATI) used metal......other than the strength issue.

i just know that when i pop my hood and touch any of the piping between the sc and the TB its always really hot.

oh yeah, another thought is that it may be difficult to hook up the temp sensor with a silicone piece...maybe thats why its not used...

Anything under the hood is going to be hot.

Silicone can't be polished.

alright alright chris. after driving around a while, put your hand on the stock elbow, and then try it on the vortech elbow and see which on you can hold onto longer......yes obviously they both get pretty hot but there's a noticable difference.

im not one for polish, im a brushed finish kinda guy anyway...

HEY! dont talk dirty to me slim!!!!

actually i do have the "satin" aluminum vortech elbow. i would have rather gotten the polished one since i dont think that their idea of satin is the same as mine.....oh well. it works just the same....
