Anyone with T-rex pump that comes with vortech kit....quick question

I've been having a few problems, and I need a quick way to make sure it is working - without using any tools or jacking the car up(as I'm at school, no multimeter or tools of any kind here) I CAN reach it while the car is running, should it vibrate? if so how much? can't tell if its making any noise as the exhaust is too loud =(

While the car was running and while touching it, it did not seem to vibrate AT ALL.....it did seem a little warm, but that might have been from the exhaust etc around it, or hot fuel from the stock pump.....anyone know?

>if you can reach it with the car running it should be pretty lound even with your exhaust. And it should have vibration if you can put your hand around it.
They are known to be pretty loud.

When I used to run the TRex it was always very loud. You can also check it without starting the engine. It should run when the key is turned to On (not start) during the 2 second priming of the stock pump (both the stock and TRex pumps are wired to the same relay to turn them on).

If you're T-Rex is Priming, you sure as hell should be able to hear it...if you can't from inside the car, get a buddy to turn the key for ya while you stand outside the car. It should sound like a wookie yawning. If you can't, then it's prolly not working...I could hear my T-Rex over Open headers when inside the car (idling) but I have a gutted interior so I'm sure that helps. It puts out a pretty narly buzz, very distinct and prolly 10times as loud as the stock in-tank pump priming.

Good luck!

We'll I guess its not working, I just cleaned every electrical connection, including the 2 pump studs, 4 posts on the relay(which I also check its functioning with a multimeter) and then put new terminals on everything, while underneath the car, I had the fuel pump down(like laying on the ground) while the fuel lines were still connected, and with my ear up to it while a friend primes/starts/kills I hear nothing =( but it it feels like it flows and makes 'some' noise, but I think that must just be the stock unit pumping through it, the pump gets power like it should and the ground is good, I guess it just died......

Next question is, my car no longer has the supercharger on it, it runs in this state O.K. but seems to have a hesitation/chug/miss at highway speeds last week or 2, which is way I started looking around.....only in 5th or 6th while bogging it some, I think its fuel related....so can the stock unit pump through a broken vortech pump??? I mean it obviously can, as the car is running, but is the pump in the 'off state' a restriction at all?

Since the supercharger is gone, remove the TRex. You can get brass fuel line barbs from most auto part stores to reconnect your fuel line after removing the TRex.

Ya, I mean, but its still nice to have though, if the stock pump ever weakens, the T-Rex will pick up the slack, unless its above the stock regulators capability, it can't hurt to have too much pressure

The stock pump wouldn't be weak very long before it failed. The TRex can't help you if the stock pump fails (won't be able to pull past the blockage).

Ya but most pumps will weaken before they die for a long time, all my other cars have driven forever with a bad pump, just have off and on surging/sputtering problems, its typical for the pumps to weaken in my experience. Like the T-Rex, I just took the POS off, and its got all kinds of problems, takes about 30 seconds after getting 12v to start pumping up, then it kinda sputters and spits and never actually pumps full speed.......
