Anybody rebuild their own supercharger?

I might can get a p600b that needs rebuilt but was wondering it that was something you could do yourself or if you have to send it out to ati.

Also how much is it worth with just the pulleys, "some brackets" and the supercharger that needs built? No intercooler.

Replacement parts are rather expensive. $100 pulleys, $200 & up for brackets, it adds up quickly.

Rebuilding the blower is not something ATI will sell you parts for. You will have to find replacement bearings & seals from another source to do it yourself. Chances are if it actually broke, it is more than just bearings & will cost nearly as much to fix as a new one. Plan on spending $375 for inspection, up to nearly the cost of a new one to fix..

I have a lot of people that call to finish their used installs, only to find what what they thought was a good deal, ends up costing a few hundred to finish. Or worse, it blows up shortly after install with no warranty. There are easier ways to waste a few thousand dollars.

Re: Anybody rebuild their own supercharger?

I've been looking for a picture of a complete kit to see what exactly is missing but have not been able to find one yet. I know the intercooler and piping will add up quick.

I've heard quotes of $400 for them to rebuild it but I'm assuming that's with no damage to it.
Thanks

Re: Anybody rebuild their own supercharger?

I had the input shaft replaced, input shaft seal, rear seal and new bearings installed with utter sympathy from procharger for around $550 (thank G O D)
Oh yeah, they also threw in a 305 8 rib pulley for me.

They're cool people

If you want, ATI will inspect it for $75. If you decide to rebuild it, they will take the inspection fee off. If it's totally destroyed, I wouldn't expect to pay much more than $1400 for a total rebuild...the P600B's are not that expensive.

Re: Anybody rebuild their own supercharger?

I assume you are talking about pauls blower, jeff might actually be able to help you rebuild it. If the hard parts, impeller, shaft, case are okay then you just need to replace the bearings and seals. They can be replaced by taking them down to a bearing shop and finding replacements. Seals are the same. I am pretty sure that I will do my own next time. Vortech charges me around $350-400 and the thing leaks a few months later. I wouldn't worry about the blower wearing out, they have shown to be pretty durable, mine has about 75,000 miles on it and makes 12lbs every time. I think you'll be good on brackets and pulleys. Just make sure paul has the crank pulley. Blower pulleys run around $35-70 used and new. You will need a booster pump or new intank. My vortech T-rex has worked fine. Ati makes a similar product, I'd buy the cheaper of the two . I have a FMU I'll be trading to paul. You should think about bigger injectors and LT1 edit. The edit is a must have in the long run. Besides a belt I think thats about it. If jeffs old pulleys on still on there thats too much for your motor. Stock pullys are easy to find. If vortech blower pulleys work on the p600b than me and ham sandwich have some.

If you have tuning or will be tuning ditch the inline idea and get the Racetronix in tank. Also if gettinf larger injectors ditch FMU and use the tuning.

Good link antoine. That answered alot of questions.

I'm thinking if I get it pump, injectors and tuning but I have a lot of research to do.
