Any of you FI guys using the High Impendance 1000cc and above injectors?

I've had a devil of a time with my low impedance setup so I'm going to punt and get the high impedance injectors. According to their site, they've got a new design on the high volume hi-impedance injectors that eliminates the need for the low impedance boxes/injectors. Just want to see if you guys are hearing anything good/bad/ugly before I pull the trigger since they're not cheap ($1,000 ish...)

Yesterday, on my weekly drive to/from Rochester(249 miles each way), the car was running so sweet. I got into boost a couple of times but just getting on the freeway and when leaving the service centers on the tollway. I have the Tru-boost controller and it has a history function so I press that occasionally to see what boost I attained and try to take mental note of how aggressively she accelerated in relation to the posted boost number. I was mildly distracted on one occasion and, instead of pushing the 'boost history' button, I pressed the other one which toggles the 3 boost generalities of "Boost default A", "Boost default B" and "run on spring only". I had been running it on "Spring Only" since that gets me 15psi, but when I hit the toggle, it accidentally set it to "A". I glanced at it for a second and realized what I'd done but since I was already on the tollway, thought, "Ah... I'll change it later". So, an hour later, I pulled off at my exit, stopped at the stop sign and turned left to get on her with a 15psi (I thought) couple of gears. Good lord, I flew thru those two gears and I was grinning, having not remembered it was on the "A" setting. I pressed the history button. "Oh.. that's why" as the history was showing 21.5psi. Lol.. God I love this car....

I'm running high impedance 83's on my 408 LS car. At 58 PSI they're basically 96# injectors. They idle fine and the highest DC I've seen has been about 40% at 7000 rpm. lol

They were $400 from FIC.

After much polling and reading, I ordered a set of these...

Those should be enough to feed a little old LT1.

Yes sir Chris
They say they have a data sheet for them but given the limited parameters the LT1 PCM has, I don't know that they'll do much good for me. I'll probably set the injector constant then start test driving again.

Might be a good time to swap to the 24x setup with a 2 or 3 bar OS.

I'm such a hammerhead on that. I'm just reluctant to spend the money for that but I know I need to.

It's not that bad if you repin the harness youself. I spent a little over $1100 on mine and that included a freaking $350 billet aluminum timing cover to clear my double roller.

Hmmm... do you have a specific part number or part numbers/kit number?
I don't want to end up like some guys stories I've googled where the install the entire thing, then the car won't run because their reluctor was out of spec/tolerance because they had xyz timing set instead of the required zyx set.

Thanks!
Dave

Give them a call and talk to Mike. He'll answer all your questions and get you hooked up. When I ordered mine we walked through every part that was needed and he sent me an invoice that I just paid instead of trying to write down a list of parts to order.

Got the injectors...

Currently, I'm running the stock Fuel Pressure Regulator but I'm ordering the Aeromotive AFPR #13107 today so I can run the injectors at 4bar (58psi) instead of the stock 3 bar (43.5psi)

I wouldn't use the LT1 specific regulator, I've seen them fail too often. Mine did and cost me a head gasket years ago. Just get an A1000 or leave the stock one in place, it's 1:1 anyway.

Interesting that you're using a T3 flange vs T4 or V band. I was considering a pair of Turbonetics "Ashley" 6665 turbos for my 408 but I was having concerns about the T3 size for the large CID and the ability to hit ludicrous speed.
