any trouble shooting pros need help

alright took my 96ss out today i am just running into a bunch of probs with it. Its a 96 a4 with hooker long tube headers, and a vortech charger it has a msd 6albtm otherwise completey stock. Here is the situation at high speeds the car just dies i have an extra gas gauge hooked up and at full throttle the car reads at about 90pis the car also has svo 24 inj in it. it seems like the car has no pull it is not bad at low speeds and the car runs fine all day long its just at wot it is not right. ALso nailed the gas and the car died, opened the hood and found the intake tube going to the throttle body slipped off, but there was oil in the tube and throttle body also looked like oil spilled elsewhere. I have not checked my plugs yet to see what they are gapped at point i would assume that they are right they were done proffesional with my headers. Could the prop by no o2 sensors or i was thinking maybee its because i moved the maf down to air filter which is by the little air damn thing on the bottom. i dont know if this is right, the car has 110000 on the clock and i dont know if it is the opti, the car also has a hard time starting it takes a couple of cranks then it finally kicks in. When the car starts it smeels like nasty gas.

Please someone help i love my car but i am getting to the point where i want to sell her.

MY intake stayed completely clean until I cracked a ring land and started getting some blowby. Then I ended up with tons of oil in the intake. Either the blower seals are going or your motor went south (venting oil mist to the blower intake). But this still doesn't explain why it dies at high speed. After my engine broke the ringland I still raced it even. It ran just fine, except it smoked alot. Did the car just start having these high speed fits? It obviously isn't a lack of fuel. must be something in the ignition.

the car only started having the props when i put the charger on it. i replaced the coil with a msd, i was thinking it was the igntion to maybee i should redo everything, re ground it etc etc etc.

anyone else have anyother ideas, oh yeah when i bought the charger the guy told me that it had a small oil leak because of a small oil ring. i bought it from a good guy on the board, damn i wish i would have saved the moeny and just got heads and a damn cam.

sounds like the spark plugs, they need to be copper plugs not platnum. just pull one and see if thet are the proper ones and the gap s right. On the oil problem you can send it to the manufacture and they will refurbish it for you.

it makes sense the guy who put in my headers said that they were charger plugs, but who knows. Would the plugs be the reason the car starts that way, and the smell of gas, i thought it was not having the o2 in the back with no simulators. How much does it cost to have the vortec taken care off.

thanks for everyones help, just dont want to pull up to a civic and get my *** kicked. thanks guys,

anymore thoughts or suggestions would be appreciateddd let me know thanks again.

You might be maxing the MAF, have you had the car tuned? Might want to get a scan done and see what going on.

You could get a baseline tune from PCmforless for 100 bucks, its what I had to do. I dont have 700bucks for a tune either. Now Im gaining all info I can about LT1 edit/tunecat and how to use it. I bet its in the tune.

As far as the oil in the throttlebody, try disconnecting and plugging the hose that runs from the throttlebody to the valve cover. Sounds like you're getting some good blowby and oil is being forced up the hose into the intake. I had a similar problem, but in reverse order, the supercharger would pressurize that hose and push my oil dipstick up until it hit the hood (along with half a quart of oil which scared the **** out of me, white smoke pouring out of the hood suddenly).

90psi of fuel pressure sounds too high for 6#s of boost. Perhaps your FMU is working overtime and causing you to run super rich on the big end. Also could be why your getting a strong fuel smell.
