Wow Jeff! That puts my new best to shame (8.3 @ 90 MPH with 2.02 60 ft and spinning 555R's about 300 feet) and you're on stock heads! Dang, when it's rebuild time for me I may not worry about the heads and might just go with the good old Hot Cam after all! I've mowed over a blower cam for quite some time now, most of the ones I'm interested in are similar to the Hotcam anyway .....maybe I should just go with it. MPG and off idle response decent?

Say, did you ever do any tuning over at John's or did you just have it done at the other place? I've found that a dose of race gas or BTM retard takes care of my knock retard completely ....so I guess he did put a little too much timing in mine after all but it's cool, I kind of like it like that actually....now that I know for sure what's going on.

BTW, do you have to run race gas at the track for the "aggresive tuning" you speak of or can you get by on pump gas.

Excellent run man

I have always liked the Hot-Cam My car went 12.40 @111 with the same mods before the powerdyne was installed. The Cam has good street manors N/A and Blown. One Thing I'm Doing is running alot of timing and fuel MY A/F is down in the 11.5 range this is where I make the most power. Most people run less timing and 12.5. I do run race gas at the track and pull timing on the street. My car would go boom with pump gas and full timing. That cam works for me!

I guess you are pulling timing with a BTM type of box on the street.

How many miles is your car driven weekly?
And how much timing are your pulling when on the street when running on 92 octane?
Finally, how much timing are your running @ the track and are you running 104 Unlead octane?

VERY IMPRESSIVE TIMES MAN!!

Thanks,
Claude

Yes i pull about 2 degrees per pound of boost on the street.

My car is very rarley driven on the street I bought the car new in 96 and it has 33000 miles on it. This is about to change though this car will soon be my daily driver. I have 96 TA 396 D1 that is taking over the racing duties. I just need to get that damn thing running good it currently has fuel and ignition issues.

I run between 34-36 degrees at WOT and yes its usualy with 104 octane.
MIR only has 111 Octane so thats what I was running when i ran the 11.19.

Hold on with that 396 and the D1 Can't wait to see what that will run. How many runs have you made on the stock rear?
I kinda want to get a moser 12-bolt or ford 9-inch before I run my car at the track, what do you think?

I have made probably 300 passes on this rear most in the 1.7 1.6 range. i have only made 10 passes with the new converter and all very low 1.6 or 1.5. I'm sure this rear would break very soon if i abuse it with many more 1.5 launches.

If your not worried about spending a few hundred extra get the currie 9 inch, they come assembled and ready to bolt up.

Auto cars can get away with neck snapping launches on the stock rear for a long time manual cars will brek the rear quick and when it goes chances are your DS will go to and that can get expensive.

OK last question(s) for ya broh.

What do you have done to your Tranny to make it last that long?

Do you have stronger drums/hubs for that tranny too?

How many miles do you put on that car yearly?

Thanks,
Claude

I have a TransGo shift kit set to the hardest shifts possible thats it. other than that and the conveter. the rest of the tranny is stock. Oh ya I have broken two stock flex plates, now I have a B&M flexplate.

I will say my tranny isn't very happy after 10 launches with the Pro Yank 3600 Extreme converter. That is a monster conveter and I doubt I would get another 10 passes with 1.5 launches on the stock tranny.

i might have put 3000 miles a year on the car the last 3 years.

Jeff, I now see the difference between your car and mine . We have a similiar setup, but I am definitely a chicken, and you definitely have "no fear". I do have a question about the pulley setup on the Powerdyne. You are running a 7 inch ASP pulley on the crank, but is that a 6lb pulley on the blower to get the 7.5 lbs? I would like to bump up to the same boost level.

Cool thanks for the info. I just wanted to see how much abuse my trans would take with my new set up before it went boom! I have the trans go shift kit in there with 2800 Vig stall, kevlar clutches/bands and a Huge B&M supercooler. Hopefully it will last as well as yours.

Thanks again,
Claude

No it's the 4.5# pully on the head unit wiith this combo you will hit the blowers redline between 6100 and 6200 RPM so don't miss to many shifts or you will be rebuilding your head unit. this combo also helps with belt slip priblems you have more contact on both pullys.

Another approach you might consider if you're having ASP cut a crank pulley anyway. Go ahead and get a blower pulley too, and have them cut for 7 ribs. I am currently running a 7" x 3.2" 7-rib pulley set ASP made for me. Like Jeff said, the additional belt wrap is good, and the 7th rib is more yet. This combination has virtually eliminated slippage in my case. The right belt is a Kelley part number. I credit this with allowing me to not overtighten it, while still curtailing slippage.

Hmmm, not a bad thought. Two questions here:

1. Can someone help me with the calculations for the size pulley to get if I have the 6lb Powerdyne pulley on the blower now?

2. If switching to a 7 rib is good, can someone tell me what size belt that might fit and where I can get it?

I must say, 12.03 at 123 is quick, what are your mods?
