Just some random T76 dyno threads, but be sure to check the different setups... some are mild and some are really built:

Nice Speedinc 800rwhp setup with GT76, R-trim, 1.15 a/r :

**EDIT** Added 900rwhp setup : http://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread...622&highlight=

Another 800rwhp setup: http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showth...highlight=t-76

4V motor with 822rwhp@ 22psi:

You also have engineermike making 700rwhp with his log setup (which is impressive).

I guess my point is built LS1 with aftermarket heads > built LT1 with aftermarket heads... yet most LS1 guys cant make more than 800rwhp with a T76.

Moral of the story, we need to know the goals for the car before we can give advice on what size turbo you should run. If you want anything under 900rwhp, a T76 will get you there. You want more, go with a T88 (its proven) or wait for the results of the new line of turbos Mike mentioned.

I really believe I would be at 800+ if I were dyno'ing through a 6-speed. Other cars pulling similar mph to me with a 6-speed are making around 850 at the wheels. Also note that I'm running my Tial 40mm WG wide open and still getting 17 psi. I really believe there's more in mine if I raise the boost to ~22 psi. Maybe another 70 - 100 rwhp?

I guess we'll find out what that 76gts can make through a 6-speed when I get my fuel system

Its tough to tell if your setup will make power up to 22psi with your cubes. I dont think we can assume it will make power to 22psi until we see it. With a 355ci, then yeah, but who knows with a 383. I would think the small turbine housing will choke at some point.

Lets assume you are losing 22% drivetrain loss with your setup, your 700rwhp = ~900fwhp. Pretty good.

Now if we slapped on the 15% for manual drivetrain setup: 900fwhp = 765rwhp. That seems more realistic than guessing 800+rwhp just from a tranny swap.

For everyone reading this thread, cubic inch will have bearing on what size turbo will meet your goals.

Again, knowing the goals is important.

BTW, I created a poll to see what results people have gotten. Lets sit back and observe... hopefully we get some good detailed posts on people's setups.

Looking for anywhere between 700rwhp to 800rwhp, but I don't want to have to max the turbo out for these numbers. Would like to hit single digits at the track then put on some pretty "shoes" and drive her home.

Gonna have a nasty fuel system and run a stand-alone. Just really trying to decide between a 355 or a 383 (which I am leaning towards).

And it looks as if the 5.7 rod is what is recommended for turbo applications.

What would be an ideal crank and pistons for this build?

thanks again

eagle crank, eagle rods, JE pistons will get you there no problem

You wanting to run race gas, pump/race mix, or pure pump?

If you got the money, build as much motor as you can in my opinion.

I don't know how feasible it is or if any of the stand alone's allow for this, but I would kinda like to have 2 tunes for the car. A pump gas for street driving, then a race gas for the track. The car isn't going to see a ton of street miles, but I would like to take it out to the local car shows or drive to/from the drag strip.

I'm curious what route you'll end up taking, as your goals are paralleled to my own.

A T76 will support 800rwhp no problem. The whole debate was whether or no the T76 is as good as a PT88. It will need to support 1000rwhp .... I dont think it will... infact there are very few online that have made over 900rwhp with the 76... The PT88 has made 1000rwhp.

PT88 > PT76GTS IMO for max power.

This was the whole debate. Anything under 900rwhp should be good with the 76GTS. If you want more and still stay T4 flanged then go PT88 or wait for the results of some of FI.com's new turbos.

The PT88 can still get it done.

Yeah...I think I am gonna be pretty contempt with the T76GTS...just needing to figure out cubic inches. I just sent Bret Bauer an email in regards to a single plane/intake elbow for the setup.

Pretty sure I am going to go with a fully forged 383, single plane/elbow, my LT4 heads worked over by Lloyd Elliot, T76GTS, Real Quick's Hot parts, Custom Cam Motion turbo cam matched to the engine/top end/turbo, 6 speed and the 12 bolt I already have.
