9.8 @ 149
Today was a good day. http://www.ls1speed.com/movies/980.WMV
First run I made it spun so bad I didn't even finish the pass.
Second run it pulled 10.2 @144.67 on a 1.656 60ft. (spun hard)
I lowered the 2 step, but in the meantime they put down some vht.
Third run, it bogged really bad, and for some reason I felt like powershifting, and it ran 10.3 @148.53 on a 1.85 60ft.
I'm still can't believe that powershifting picked the car up 4mph on back to back passes.
So, I upped the 2-step (back to 4,400), the car still slightly bogged but still ran the 9.8 @149.2 on a 1.58 60ft.
Right past the traps the car backfired and died (no spark). From what I could tell, the opti was making a clicking noise before the last run, so I think that's what broke. (the opti was a few years old anyway, I'll replace it on monday).
Since I was running late for that wedding rehearsal, Steve Shoemaker was so kind as to pull his car off the trailer (I drove mine there), trailer my car to the shop (where him and Chris unloaded it and put it in the shop), and let me drive his car home.
You guys saved my *** and I owe you big time. Thanks again.
All passes were made with 24psi boost (as recorded on FAST datalog), 3,740lbs, 110 octane Citgo fuel, the high MPH passes were powershifted. Cylinder heads are Airflow Research, 195's, ported to 215cc intake runner.
John, thanks for taking/posting the video for me.
The car still has A/C, and a tiny 218/218 cam. I am happy now.

[QUOTE=INTMD8]Today was a good day. @149.2

If the temp drops a bit, or you put down or make any more power, .... since it's a daily driver type car, are you gonna put a chute on it or just start hitting the breaks.
Also , what is the drivability like on the low end with no boost. (Basically , how is the throttle response with the lowered compression).

97 Red SS- Thanks
Rpm280- If it goes faster, I will just continue getting kicked off the track like I do now. No more rollbar, no chute, no weight reduction. The car doesn't have any harnesses, and also just a 6 pt bar, so it does not pass tech for it's times as is.
It is pretty responsive on the street with the .69 a/r exhaust housings. Just rolling into the gas it starts coming up on boost right away. Compression ratio is 9.2-1.

That is absolutely outstanding for a street driven 6 speed car. much props to you, and congrats. What else would you need to do to pass tech for 9s? (not that you will, I dont know
) chutes, kill switch, bigger cage, harnesses, etc?

Re: 9.8 @ 149
Thanks everyone.
5.0THIS- To pass tech, I 'think' I would need a roll cage to replace my rollbar, 6pt harnesses, battery cutoff, and I guess a parachute soon. All stuff I do not plan to do.
Uthinkso- Yeah, I am really happy with the MPH. I thought about converting to air/water intercoolers as my IAT's are 177 through the traps. Not sure if I will though considering I don't pass tech as is.
I'm looking forward to seeing the results of your F2 powered shop car. Looks like a killer ride
Loony- I'm using twin Innovative GT61 turbos. They are TO4/on center.
