8's on a stock ls shortblock!

Took the rx7 to the track tonight and got a new best, got the stock ls record and first ls stock shortblock in the 8's! Drove it to the track, only took off the hood for tech and to show off the turbo kit, didn't touch ANYTHING, hell didn't even datalog it, then drove it home. This was just leaving on the footbrake and 7lbs, transbrake transmission goes back in it early next week. Not bad for a street car that got 22mpg just a month ago on a road trip, on e85!

My buddy thought I was only going to make an 1/8th mile pass so shut the camera off early.

You sure you're the first? I could swear I've read about at least one stock block turbo C5 in the 8s.

Regardless, that's moving.

Yeah, the stock any LS shortblock record was 9.30 before this, stock 5.3 record was 9.49(Parish) before I took it.

Who did the tune on this? Running 18+psi on stock pistons means you got a tune from God
Congrats on the pass man. What brakes are you running that you can stop from that speed w/o a parachute? I suppose the light weight of the car helps in that aspect.

What brand Transbrake are you going to use? Hughes? TCI? other???
I'm keeping my TH350 in hopes that I;
a. get another job soon
b. Can find a transbrake that has a good rep
c. Get Vigilante to 'free' re-stall my TC to something good for Drag racing only on the Turbo w/Transbrake available.

Yeah, it was cold, so the people I was out there with, we all left and went to club orleans lol. That took out seriously everybody that was out there that night. Topeka sucks anyhow, I stick to manhattan most the time. Plus, theres no bike scene in topeka.

Tune myself, stock mazda brakes up front, wilwood drag brakes on the rear. It stops great, I've made 170+ pulls on the street and stop no problem.

Running tci valve bodies in both my transmissions, one is just a manual valve body, the other is a transbrake one.

well even more accolades for you are due then
Great job!
What stall are you running and to what RPM is your two step set?
My vigilante is a 2800 stall and footbraking it for all it's worth, I would only see like .8 (point 8) of a PSI. It was sooo lethargic getting off the line. I will ask Vigilante/Precision Industries what stall they think would be optimal for a quarter mile only type TC with my turbo setup.

Or it could mean he's leaving power on the table (running rich to keep the pistons cool).

It still has power left in it, I haven't really leaned on it yet, keeping the timing safe.

Get a 2 step, you will build a lot more boost, I'm running a ptc 3200ish converter, 2 step is set at 3400 it takes a little bit to get up on the 2 step.
