Mine idles fine in gear, A/C on, with 8.3/1 compression. But, I have a Vigilante '0' pump converter, which may help me.

If you are running a big cam, you should go with the higher static CR. If it's a typical blower cam, get the -31cc pistons to get the static CR as low as possible.
