4 DEG. if Spark Retard at IDLE?

but none when i rev the car only at idle do i get the 4 degrees of retard i have not et taken it around the block to see if its pulling more timing when under load i have 93 octane gas in there now but its been in there for a little more then 5-6 months and a full tank of it as well good it be bad gas?

at least when i rev it a a dead stop in park it doesnt pick up any retard only when the rpms come down to idle and give me 3.5-4 degrees of retard.

any help would be great.

I wonder if there is excess air getting in causing a high idle and the ECU is trying to return to the correct idle rpm with the only tool left to it by retarding the timing. Do you have an after market throttle body on it? (you ought to put the car specifics in your signature)

do you hear any noise from the valvetrain? also, what engine and vehicle are we talking about? what kind of setup. Need more details. If its an LT1, do you have the LT4 knock module? I had a bad plug once that was arcing to the block, causing knock retard, that was wierd.
