2 bar map tunes on LT1.

I know a few of you attempted tuning with 2 bar map sensors a while back. Just checking in to see how they're doing, now that they've been on the tune a little while.

I'm getting ready to attempt this and any experiences/tips/tricks you learned along the way would be helpful and appreciated.

Re: 2 bar map tunes on LT1.

i have a 69 camaro with a 93 lt1 in it.it has 10.8 to 1 compression with afr cylinder heads and a hot cam.complete forged bottom end and 42lb fuel injectors and no fmu just a 2 bar map sensor.i have long tube headers and a turbo 350 trans.the only problem im having is when i pull it in gear it wants to stall sometimes but i think he has it a little rich to be safer thats what i asked for though.i ran 12.40s on the engine only im waiting to go to the track with the blower on to see how it runs.i have a ati procharger non intercooled makiing 5 lbs of boost.any other qestions feel free to email me.ps alvin is a great guy to deal with and realy knows what hes doing.

He made it rich at idle to be safe? Didn't think going lean at idle would hurt any.

he made it rich over all. you are absolutely correct that at idle it wont hurt a thing thats not what i meant .i need a dyno tune to get it just right .This was just a begining tune.

Hmmm so what exactly do I need to do other than rescale the map table? Is there other issues when it goes through its self check/calibration deal at key on? I assume the ECM would get slightly skewed info as to altitude, when it sees the different value than expected? Help me out Im not quite grasping the inital key on deal. Maybe it doesnt matter.

Re: 2 bar map tunes on LT1.

I'm not entirely sure... I put together a nice initial tune, but haven't put it into the car yet (someone is borrowing my tuning laptop for the next month).

You do lose some granularity since the table is the same size and you're squeezing 2 atmospheres into it. Here's what I scaled down:

Main Spark Advance vs. RPM vs. MAP
Extended Spark Advance vs. RPM vs. MAP
Spark Correction Vs. MAP vs. coolant temp
Max Spark retard vs. MAP
open loop afr vs. map
egr correction vs. vaccum (EGR deleted though)
low octane knock retard multiplier vs. map
the VE tables

Then you simply (haha) have to come up with the rest of the table.

I'm fairly certain the tune will start the car, but I'm also fairly certain it'll be off quite a bit and will need a lot of tweaking.
